Rural Transport Project Assistant

Base / County Hall, Haverfordwest
Will be required to travel throughout Pembrokeshire, particularly North Pembrokeshire for work, for which travel expenses will be reimbursed at 45 pence per mile.
Holiday entitlement: / 25 days p.a. plus 8 public holidays pro rata
Hours: / 22.5 hours per week.
Salary: / £16,604 p.a. pro rata based on Local Authority SCP16
(£10,062 p.a. actual. This equates to £8.60/hour)
Plus 3% Employers Pension contribution, subject to Employee Contribution of 3%

Purpose of the post:

To work with local communities throughout Pembrokeshire, particularly in North Pembrokeshire, to develop and implement solutions to their unmet transport needs, and to effectively disseminate information about the services which are available. This post will involve liaison with other local groups.

Fixed Term Contract to 31 October 2014.

This post is funded through the Rural Development Plan for Wales 2007-2013 which is funded by the Welsh Government and the European Union.

Duties:

  1. Coordinate activities to promote and advertise community transport services in Pembrokeshire, via printed materials, advertising, online, and events.
  2. Work with professional web designers to update, refresh and relaunch the general website for Community Transport in Pembrokeshire.
  3. Assist with organisingthe 2014 Pembrokeshire Community Transport Forum.
  4. Assist in developingcommunity transport services in response to unmet transport needs.
  5. Coordinate passenger surveys to gather feedback about the services provided
  6. Assist in the collection of evidence about project outcomes and report to the Management Committee about the progress of the project.
  7. Other duties commensurable with the position as may be required from time to time.

  • Able to communicate with and relate to older and younger people, individually and in groups
  • Able to work alone or in a team
  • Able to organise time
  • Able to use email, internet, word and excel
  • Good organisational / event organising skills
  • Have been involved with community projects / in community groups
  • Have worked with volunteers or done voluntary work yourself
  • Have an interest in rural communities and the issues they may face
  • Able to organise and present information and produce reports on meetings, etc.
  • Marketing / promotional experience would be an advantage
  • Fluent spoken and written Welsh would be an advantage

Scooter hire may be available to the successful applicant if they have no other access to transport. This only requires a provisional licence; training and safety equipment would be provided.
