Rupert House School
Additional information for applicants
Rupert House is an IAPS Preparatory school which has been established in the centre of Henley for over 70 years. We aim to ensure that the children receive a balanced and yet challenging education in a caring environment. The Lower School caters for boys and girls from 3+ to 7+ and the Upper School for girls only from 7+ to 11+. In all there are approximately 210 – 220 pupils depending on the time of year.
The School combines the values of the traditional prep. school with the best of modern educational practice. High standards of behaviour, dress and achievement are expected from the staff and pupils alike.
Applicants must be able to communicate the enjoyment of learning. They must be prepared to work as part of a team providing full co-operation with other members of staff.
Although there is no assessment when pupils enter school at the age of 3, our pupils go on to some highly academic schools at 7+ (boys) and 11+ (girls) with some gaining scholarships. They are well prepared academically and emotionally for the move. We are pleased that academic success is achieved whilst ensuring that art, music, sport and drama are given the prominence which we and our parents expect – see our website for a list of schools taking pupils in the past few years www.ruperthouse.org .
Rupert House School is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and applicants must be willing to undergo child protection screening appropriate to the post, including checks with past employers and the Criminal Records Bureau. The school is an equal opportunities employer.
