Truro Speed Academy 2017

Truro & District Motor Club Ltd will organise the Truro Speed Academy 2017 with the aim of recruiting and mentoring new Competitors to MSA Hillclimbs and Sprints in Cornwall.

Rules of the 2017 Academy.

To be Eligible:

1. Entrants must be in their first year as an MSA competition licence holder or:

Persons who have previously held a MSA competition licence may be permitted to enter under circumstances to be decided individually and on merit by the Academy Club Stewards.

An example is a previous competitor who has not competed for a number of years (in excess of 10)or in a different discipline.

2. The Clubs supporting the Academy are Camel Vale Motor Club, Newquay Auto Club and Truro and District Motor Club.

3. The Clubs for their part will offer a reduced entry fee of £45.00 per day to their event. The full entry fee would normally be £75.00.For 2017, Tregrehan entry fee is £65.00 per day as part of our 50th Anniversary event celebrations.

4. Entrants must be a member of Truro and District Motor Club Ltd.

5. The events included in the Academy of 2017 are:

First Mentor and introduction session March 25th

Truro Motor Club Tregrehan Hillclimb June 24th and 25th

Newquay Auto Club Treloy Sprint Saturday July 1st

Camel Vale Castle Hillclimb July 8th and 9th

Truro Motor Club Portreath Sprint August 26th and 27th

Truro Motor Club Tregrehan Hillclimb Oct 7th and 8th

6. The clubs will hold a pre-season mentoring session with invited guests including MSA Scrutineers, MSA Clerk of the Course, Club Officials and experienced Competitors on March 25th at Penwyn Garage, Hendra Road , St DennisPL26 8EQfrom 10am. Our thanks to Ian Brokenshire for the use of his business.

7. Visits to Tregrehan and Castle Hillclimbs will be arranged to view the venues and walk the Course with the Driver Mentors and Event officials. To be arranged as 2 separate evening visits. Date TBC

8. If 2 drivers wish to share the same car (Double Drive) that can normally be accepted by the event organisers. Separate entry fees will still need to be paid per driver.

9. To qualify for the reduced entry fee academy entrants must enter all 9 events.Any non-attendance must be notified in reasonable time before the event to that event secretary,and it is the entrant’s responsibility to contact the academy Club Stewards. If an event is missed without permission from the Stewards the remaining events will be as other competitors and the full Entry Fee will be charged.

10. The Academy entrants carsmay be driven to the event, or if on a trailer proof must be given at event signing on that the vehicle has Road Fund Licence, Insurance and MOT if required. It is the Drivers responsibility to provide the information at Signing On. Your MSA Competition Licence and Club Membership Card will also be required at Signing On.

11. The Treburley Garage Trophy will be awarded to the competitor who has improved his/her timefrom their first practice run at each venue. This will be calculated on the improved times of each competitor,taking the first practicerun at each of the named events and comparing to the best timed run at each.If a car and/or class is changed drivers may not qualify for this award without express permission from the Academy Stewards.

12. It is the driver’s responsibility to check all regulations in the MSA Competitors Yearbook regarding any modifications they may wish to make to the car to enable them to run/stay in the road car classes and the Academy. For example SectionS 11.1.1 – 11.8.1. The MSA Scrutineers willalso be available by phone for advice.

13. It is the Academy Drivers responsibility to contact the Event Entries Secretary in good time before the event to ensure the Entry can be accepted as all events have a maximum number of Entries and an Entries closing Date.
