GUILDERLAND POP WARNER
RULES FOR PARTICIPANTS AND FAMILIES
1. ATTENDANCE:National Pop Warner rules specify: 1. Football players must complete 10 hours of practice before participating in contact drills. Cheerleaders must complete 10 hours of practice before being allowed to stunt. 2. Football players and spirit participants must complete 20 hours of practice before participating in inter-squad scrimmages. In addition to these rules, Guilderland Pop Warnerimplements the following policy: 1. Players must be on time for practice (5 or 10 minutes early). 2. Four unexcused absences or unacceptable absences before Labor Day may result in that player being cut from the team. Missing paperwork is an unexcused absence! Unacceptable reasons for missing practice include: it’s too hot, going to a party, basketball practice, etc. Other excuses are at the discretion of the head coach. Players must contact their coach or team commissioner if they are unable to attend a practice.
2. PARENT PARTICIPATION: Parental involvement is mandatory it is not voluntary. There will be numerous opportunities to volunteer for any of a multitude of jobs that must be done for GPW to operate. Parents who do not volunteer will have jobs assigned to them. You are needed to assist with: Coaching, Team Commissioners, Game Crews (Statistics, Chain Gang), Field Maintenance, Fund Raising and Promotions, Concession Stand Operations, Equipment Management, team Pictures and the Banquet. Dozens of GPW parents get involved and we need every one and more. We deeply appreciate your help. It is vital to our success.
3. FEES/FUNDRAISING: The full registration fee for one football player is $249; the full registration fee for one flag football player/one cub cheer is $129; the full registration fee for one cheerleader is $249. Late fee of $50 after August 1st. ****Please note that registration includes an upfront cost of $50 towards fundraising. You will get that back as you sell your fundraising tickets****. We will also have other fundraising opportunities available.
4. Deposit/Paperwork is due at registration. All fees and paperwork shall be turned by August 1st.
5. REFUNDS: No fees will be refunded after July 31. There will be no exceptions. Immediately following registration, we invest registration funds in expectation of your child’s participation with us, including equipment, league fees and insurance. Once your child is on the field with us in August, we will be unable to return any of this money.
6. EQUIPMENT: GPW will issue your child a full set of football equipment and uniform or a cheerleading uniform. There will be no charge or deposit required for regular equipment. You are expected to return the equipment at the end of the season, cleaned, at Equipment Return at a time and place to be set up for each team. Anyone not returning equipment will be billed for the replacement cost of the equipment, up to $300. All participants are issued uniforms that are the property of Guilderland Pop Warnerand are to be worn at GPW games/competitions only.
7. WEATHER/CANCELLATIONS: Unless you are specifically notified of weather related cancellations, your child is expected at all games and practices. We play and practice in the rain, mud and snow! If an electrical storm begins during practice, coaches will take the children off the field. So, in the event of an electrical storm, parents should return to the practice field as soon as possible!
8. DROP-OFF AND PICK-UP: You are expected to have your child at games and practices on time, as scheduled by coaches and to pick them up promptly as scheduled. It is unfair to expect our volunteers to stay late with your child to accommodate your personal schedule. Should you have schedule problems, please make the appropriate arrangements for your child to be picked up or dropped off. As a safety issue, please DO NOTleave your child at the field unattended.
9. Placement on a team or squad will be based on Pop Warner Federation Rules and Policy
