RSOPA Sickness, Injury and Absence Policy
It is requested that students please report absences, so that RSOPA can be sure, in the case of emergencies at the studio, who is expected to be inside the studio at any time.
Parents and students are expected to consider the health of their teachers when deciding if sick or well enough to attend class.
In the event of Students being sick or absent:
- Report absences to the RSOPA office by email to or by texting 07840882944
- Missed classes are not refunded, however can be rescheduled at the school discretion at the maximum of twice in an academic year, and if this is an available option. Please email the office
- Safety is our first priority; reporting your absence helps us ensure safety, thank you
In the event of teachers being sick or absent:
- RSOPA will arrange a suitable cover teacher when possible
- Classes are non refundable, however the best effort is made to replace a cancelled class
- RSOPA will notify you by text message if the cancellation is last minute, and a notice will be posted on the kids calendar and social media platforms
In the case of injury
- Students and staff are requested to report injuries to the office by email
- RSOPA welcome students to attend class through injury to watch and observe
Sickness and diarrhea
- If a student is not at school or work due to sickness, it is assumed they are not fit to attend class that day
- Please leave 48 hours from vomiting or diarrhea to attend class
- It is assumed that parents and students will decide responsibility when fit to return to class following sickness.
- RSOPA recommend a student regains full physical strength before re attending after sickness.
Medication Guidelines
- Teachers are not permitted to administer medicine, if a student requires medication to be administered by staff, a written and clear instruction should be agreed in advance.
- Students should be able to administer inhalers on their own
- Students or staff with asthma, mild or frequent, should carry their inhalers on them at all times
- Students or staff with allergies should report it in writing to the office and should make sure the staff are informed on the use of epi pens or any other relevant medication.
- Parents and students are responsible for advising the office of any changes to their medical needs.
Emergency First Aid procedures and policy
- RSOPA staff all hold emergency first aid
- If a student is taken ill in class, a parent will be called
- If an emergency occurs, RSOPA will call 999 and may seek advice from emergency services BEFORE calling a parent or next of kin
- RSOPA follow emergency call response in any instance, if a student faints or fits. In this situation, 999 will always receive the first call over a parent or next of kin
