THIS WEEK’S MEETING

The meeting was called to order by PRESIDENT THOMPSON BRANDT.

WIN TOERBER led us in the Pledge of Allegiance and Invocation.

SINGING

STEVE HOLMAN led us in singing “R-OT-A-R-Y” & “Happy Birthday”.

FELLOWSHIP

PAUL THEISENwas in charge of Fellowship and asked questions about Amtrak. Happy News was shared by LAURA WELTI, MICHELLE McNEELY & PAUL THEISEN.

The 50/50 drawing was won by MICHELLE McNEELY. MICHELLEdid not choose the winning marble, the pot is worth $237.

ANNOUNCEMENTS

BRIAN POZZI gave a big Thank you to all for their help with the Chicken & Biscuit dinner. Special thanks went to DEE KULHEMEIER for help with the tickets, to MICHELLE McNEELY for help with placemats, BRUCE JOHNSON for helping and storing supplies from year to year, LAURA & LEE WELTI for deliveries, MIKE LESLIE for arranging the Advertising, and GRETCHEN CROSS for organizing S & R Dance to provide the NOON time entertainment.

PROGRAM

PETER FLYNN introduced Shelly Griswold who spoke about the “Amtrak Coming to Town”. Potential start date for the Amtrak project is in 2014. The Amtrak would start in downtown Chicago with stops in Rockford, Freeport, Galena & Dubuque, IA. Access to rental vehicles and trails will be near the Amtrak stations. Freeport is hoping this will help to bring more amenities and jobs to the area, as well as help to keep our younger generations in the area. As a Community we need to get involved in the planning, funding and once the Amtrak is here….ride it!!
