Rosters, Referees and Game Day Issues
1. Make sure you have ALL the player's current pass(s) and a certified
copy of the teams roster
They should make a ton of copies of the rosters and give some to the
coach, as well as a couple of players parents.
2. If they do not have a roster, they can print out each players name
and then have the player sign the plain page next to the printed name. Hand
that to the Center Refeee and he will fax it to the District with his game
report. You will have 24 hours to fax a copy of the roster and passes to
the District so they can match everything up.
3. If they have a roster, but no passes, have the players sign the
roster and the referee will fax the District. You will have to copy the
players passes and fax to the district.
4. You NEVER ask referee for more information other than his / her name.
They are assigned by your club assignor. The club assignor will know if
the proper person showed up to center. If you question the center's being
currently certified, just ask for their name, tell them you are putting the
game under protest in writing, and the center the piece of paper, and fax a
copy to the District. The District will call the assignor and verify the
cetification.
5. The assistant referees should also be assigned by your club. If the
club does not assign the assitants, then the center referee will ask each
team to have a parent to the sidelines. The parents will only call if a
ball goes over the lines. NO offsides, or any other infractions. Do NOT
talk to the assitants other than to ask for "subs" or other such questions.
If you do not see the asst. in the same uniform as the center referee, ask
for certification or club affilliation. If you think something is wrong,
again, just notify the center referee that there is a formal protest. The
District will handle it from there....
6. If you think the game is getting too physical, or dangerous in any
way, PULL YOUR PLAYERS.
It is your responsibility to make sure the players are safe. It is also the
center referee, but it is ultimately your repsonsibility. The League and
District will decide what to do about the game later.
7. Keep the parents / spectators on the far side of the field...
opposite the players. No one other than those on the roster should be on
the players side. It is the HOME teams obligation to insure that the
spectators maintain good sportmanship. If you hear or know of a problem,
let the center referee know you are trying to control the problem. Do NOT
confront spectators unless told to do so by the Center referee. If there is
a problem, he / she will come to the coaches and point out the problem, and
ask the coach or team manger to speak with the spectator. If they have
asked the spectator(s) to leave the enviorns, they must do so before the
game can re-start.
8. At the end of the match.... stand next to the players as they shake
hands and remind them that both teams should be good sports. If a player or
parents says anything to become a problem, report it to the referee for his
report, and call the District office after you have spkoen to your club
president.
9. Fill out a refeee comment sheet on the web-site. It is good for us
to know who the good ones are, as well as the problems. We can always
mentor a game for the referee.
10. If you think there might be a problem with the opposition, have your
assignor ask the District for help and we'll bring in nuetral referees....
no problem there... just rying to avoid problems.
11. ALWAYS have your medical bags with ice packs. ALWAYS bring extra
rosters. ALWAYS make sure to thank the center and assistant referees.
12. MAKE SURE YOU READ THE CJSA HANDBOOK..... AND DISTRICT RULES... IT ISALL ON THE WEB-SITES: CJSA.ORG SWDCJSA.ORG
