Rosemount Area Athletic Association In-house Tennis

Welcome to the 2017 In-house Tennis season! The following are some important items that we need to attend to:

  1. Parent Assistants: In addition to coaches, it has been helpful to have a couple of parents be assistants to the coaches. This may be to help out with drills or collect balls. All families are strongly encouraged to help.
  1. Weather: Weather can be a factor here in Minnesota. If it is raining we will cancel practice. I will send out an email by 6:00 pm to notify you if practice has been cancelled. Practice may also be cancelled if the courts are wet due to rain. Water on the courts is slippery and dangerous to the kids and it also ruins the equipment.
  1. Water bottles: It can get very hot at the courts, so please be sure your child brings a water bottle with them when they come to the courts. We will take water breaks more frequently as the temps rise.
  1. Equipment: Most kids in the program will need a youth size tennis racquet. Kids will also need good running shoes. No Sandals please.
  1. Location: All sessions will be played at the Rosemount High School Tennis Courts

Dates: The season will begin Monday May 15thand run through Wednesday, June 28th(No tennis May 29th due to Memorial Day)

Time: 6:30 – 7:30pm (Mon/Wed or Tue/Thu Sessions)

  1. Saturday Match Play: We’ve reserved the courts for some Saturday mornings to allow the kids to play matches. Advanced Groups will play 8:45–9:45am. Intermediate Groups will play 9:45–10:45 am (unless otherwise noted). In order for this to be fun for everyone, we need “parent referees” to help kids with scoring. Saturday play is completely optional. The Saturday’s we have scheduled are: May 20, June 3, and June 10.
  1. Group and individual pictures will be taken onWednesday, May 24th for the Mon/Wed group and on Thursday, May 25th for the Tues/Thurs group at our normal practice time of 6:30. The pictures will be taken at the courts and practice will follow. Please wear your tennis shirts. If it is raining, we will have pictures at the Rosemount Middle School in the cafeteria.
  1. Season Ending Tourney: June 24th. This is only for the intermediate and advanced kids that are interested in participating. Medals are awarded to first, second and third place and first place in the consolidation round. This is a double elimination tournament.

9.Tennis Block Party –Friday, May 12th starting at 5:30 at Erickson Courts. (see attached flyer for more info)

10.PCA – Positive Coachable Athletes – check out the website at

RAAA programs are run completely by volunteers. Please keep this in mind when signing your kids up for sports and consider helping out. Thank you for choosing to come out for tennis, it is truly a life long activity. We hope all the kids enjoy learning this sport that can be played for a lifetime. If you have any questions, please feel free to call or e-mail us.
