Your chosen activities must total 40 points. You may select from the ones below, but you must reach a total of 40 points.
Easy= 10 Points Each
- Roman Mosaic- The Romans decorated their home and other buildings with mosaics, pictures made from tiny pieces of stone or tile set in clay. Some mosaics show scenes from mythology or daily life. Make your own mosaic and write a paragraph of how the Romans used mosaics.
- 3D Timeline - Design a three-dimensional timeline for the events that led to the rise and then fall of the Roman Empire. Make sure to include major events told about in your textbook.
- Everyday Life- Create a journal entry about the everyday life of a Roman Citizen. Make sure and include your class, your thoughts on government, your job description, and your rights as a Roman citizen.
Middle= 20 Points Each
- Roman Legionary- Research and Draw- The Roman soldier was well equipped with weapons and protective clothing. Research the complete list of articles, tell the definition of what the article was, and what it was used for to protect the soldier. Draw a Roman Soldier, including all armor and label the specific pieces.
- Emperors- You Be the Person- Pick one Roman Ruler from your textbook. Research your ruler and find out as many details as possible. Cover at least five important facts about his life in your presentation. Your presentation should be 3-5 minutes in length. You will have to turn in your script with your presentation. You must have props or a costume and present as though you are the person.
- Roman Numerals-Scrapbook Page- Showcase real life uses for Roman Numerals. Your page should include multiple pictures and uses of Roman Numerals. You also need to include a key for all of the numbers you show, and include the rules for writing Roman Numerals.
- Coliseum or Gladiators- black and white flip book, using at least 50 pictures. The flip book will show the action, but you must research factual information about the Coliseum or the Gladiators. In a three paragraph write up, explain the characters, places, and events in your story, as well as factual information to teach us about the events performed in Ancient Rome.
Hard- 30 Points Each
- Script/Play- Use story elements to create a play with people, places, events and plot. Groups cannot be larger than four. You must completely write the script and turn it in for approval before presenting. Your group will act out the play for the whole class. Your presentation should last from 5-10 minutes.
- Roman Legacy- Research a major achievement of Ancient Rome (Christianity, Architecture, or Government). It should have at least five visual and five written elements, three cited sources for your research, and include information about how your chosen achievement was used at the peak of the Roman Empire. Your project should show a connection between Ancient Rome and present day.
