Role Description –

Role Title: Volunteer Intern – Social Mediaand Communications

Responsible to: Information Co-ordinator– SEND Consortium

Part time, unpaid role( flexible hours June 15 – April 16)

The SEND Consortium are looking to recruit part time volunteer interns to support us to increase public awareness of our service and of the challenges the families we represent face.

This key role willwork with our parent and sibling bloggers to promote the content they provide and engage new audiences with our work.

In order to make a real difference to families of disabled children it is vitally important that families know what we do, and that everyone has an increased understanding of how raising a disabled child impacts on family life.

SENDirect want families to be able to find the activities and support that suit their interests, preferences, lifestyle and budget, and that can make adjustments to support any additional needs they have. And we want it to be easy.

Finding the right afterschool club, holiday cottage, personal assistant or childcare shouldn’t be a full time job – but parents tell us it is. SENDirect wants to change this forever.

SENDirect will revolutionise the way services for children with additional needs are created. We will do this by putting families and proper evidence of what they need, as they need it, at the heart of everything.

We will make it easier for organisations to promote their services directly to families and for them to understand exactly what it is families need so they can create new and different services for them.

As a core part of our communications team volunteers will be offered:

  • Opportunities to work alongside senior members of staff across SEND Consortium member organisations
  • Development supervision and support
  • The opportunity to have a measurable impact on a high profile national project
  • Reimbursement of reasonable expenses incurred in the undertaking of this role.
