ROLE:
1. / To carryout duties of a Semi-Skilled nature in relation to Capital Delivery Works activities, encompassing various tasks from OLE Renewal/power systems renewal, including vegetation clearance, component installation, cleaning, painting and repair of structures, plus all other infrastructure work tasks of a semi-skilled nature.
2. / To carry out driving duties and to routinely and regularly check all vehicle log sheets and ensure that procedures are being adhered to correctly.
3. / To assist Skilled Installation Team Members in carrying out their duties as necessary.
4. / To report to Supervisors/ Chargehands on issues such as task done/time taken/ material used/not used in either written or electronic format.
5. / To comply with Health and Safety legislation as an individual and for other persons who may be affected by your acts or omissions at work.
6. / Deputise for Chargehand where applicable.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
The following list is typical of the duties which the post holder will be required to perform. It is not necessarily exhaustive and other duties of a similar type or level may be required from time to time.
1. / Be trained to carry out power supply isolation duties including but not limited to SAP 18/AP2.
2. / To carryout Lookoutman, /PTS/WSC/Trainmaster/Machine controller , OLE switching etc duties if trained in the correct procedures.
3. / To operate various items of site plant such as dumper trucks, Fork Lift Trucks, MEWP’s, 360 Excavator and Winding in and out unit etc.
4. / Be required from time to time, to attend training courses, both in-house and external training providers.
5. / To carryout shift duties including nightshift as directed in the normal manner
6. / To partake in any ‘Emergency Return to Work’ where possible and undertake standby and call out if required.
STATUTORY DUTIES:
1. / Responsible for managing those elements of the safety management system allocated to Nexus Rail and specifically to the role of Semi-Skilled OLE for the safe operation of Nexus and associated projects.
2. / Responsible for carrying out duties and ensuring procedures are in place to meet legislative and company standards requirements for the Capital Delivery functions.
PERSON SPECIFICATION:
Essential
·  / Must be able to demonstrate experience of and competence with all work processes associated with OLE disciplines.
·  / Must be available to undertake Standby and Call Out Duties (where applicable)
·  / Have a current UK driving licence , have or be working towards Class C, Class C+E
·  / Demonstrate an in-depth knowledge of and experience with equipment and systems for which the Capital Delivery section is responsible, within the limits of their own responsibilities.
·  / Must be able to work within and enforce the organisational standard, procedures and controls..
·  / Must have a good working knowledge of Health & Safety practices in the workplace.
Desirable
·  / Have previous experience and competence, working in a Railway Environment
·  / Demonstrate a flexible approach to completing tasks
·  / Demonstrate the ability to work as an individual or part of a team
SPECIFIC SAFETY QUALIFICATIONS
1. / Personal Track Safety.
2. / Good working knowledge of Metro Rules and Regulations.
