SIG PURPOSES:
1. To support the mission statement of ONS.
2. To provide and promote a dynamic network for subspecialized nurses within ONS.
3. To serve as a forum for communication within the interest area.
4. To identify and explore patient care issues within the interest area.
5. To address current trends and issues within the interest area.
6. To share educational resources and clinical expertise with other Special Interest Groups,
various ONS Advisory Panels/Project Teams and the membership-at-large.

The new leadership group is committed to elevating the SIG and assisting to meet the mission and goals of the SIG. There is a large number of members with diverse backgrounds, settings and roles. Members of the SIG have reached out to each other with different issues and ideas with always a willing helping hand. Several members have indicated that they would like to become more actively involved.

XII. LIST OPPORTUNITIES FOR IMPROVEMENT WITHIN SIG:

Better use of the VC. We have a new coordinator who is working on updating and keeping the VC updated and pertinent. Reformat of the newsletter. With new editors and input from the membership we are working on improving the focus of the newsletter to the things that the membership has said they want to learn more about.

XIII. SIG VIRTUAL COMMUNITY – LIST HOW YOU HAVE USED YOUR SITE

New coordinator is working to update the VC so that it is more pertinent. Will begin to use it to post newsletter, communiqués and other communications.

Work with the Advanced Research SIG to present a session at Congress. Will be presenting a session at Congress along with the Education SIG. Coordinator and several members participate in a variety of ONS project teams.
