Role Profile: Grow Cook Cater - Programme Manager

Reporting to: / Community Leader/Registered Manager- L’Arche Belfast
Background: / Grow Cook Cater is a 4-year training and skills development project funded by the Big Lottery Fund. The overall aim of the project is to provide a training programme in horticulture and food preparation for 24 young people with learning disabilities each year. Project participants will gain skills, knowledge, and work experience which will help them to move on to voluntary or paid employment.
Responsible for: / -Recruitment of project participants and processing of application;
-Working together with GCC staff members and project participants to develop training programmes and ensure positive training outcomes for participants.
-Monitoring and evaluating project outcomes;
-Supervising all GCC staff and for keeping the project within the agreed budget;
-Act as the main point of contact for the Big Lottery and other partner organisations.

Main Job Purpose:

-Adds value to L’Arche Belfast through the delivery horticultural and culinary training programmes for young adults with a learning disability.
-Meets our strategic objective to increase our provision of “day services”, which meet the needs of young people who have completed school and require training and supported employment opportunities.
Key Performance Measures:
-Quality of training delivered and achievement of agreed outcomes;
-Meaningful involvement of participants in the planning and development of training programmes;
-Projecting a professional and reputable image for L’Arche Belfast and GCC at all times, and acting as an ambassador for the organisationat all times.
-Keeping to project budget.
-Feedback from participants and their families/representatives.
In fulfilling this role, the job holder undertakes the following activities:
-Maintain collaborative efforts with partner organisations, in particular the Big Lottery;
-Secure programme trainees and process applications;[If the training programme is oversubscribed, lead a panel which determines which applicants to accept.]
-Ensure that policies relating to safeguarding vulnerable adults are fully implemented;
-Manage and supervise all members of the Grow Cook Cater team, and source training which will help them to develop their skills and knowledge base;
-Undertake performance appraisals, recruitment and other HR activities relevant to the role;
-Organise and facilitate monthly team meetings with all relevant staff and partners;
-Work with GCC staff members and project participants to develop training programmes, and adjust them based on participant feedback. [This includes being the point of contact with the accrediting body (e.g. OCN or AQA) which approves and accredits the training provided];
-Conduct regular monitoring and evaluation of project outcomes, and manage feedback from participants, families and carers;
-Be part of the team which coordinates a cookery summer scheme for young adults;
-Involve and value the contribution of each team member;
-Responsible for project budget, and any financial reports required by either the L’Arche Belfast Board of Directors or to Big Lottery;
-Develop supplier relationships and manage provision of supplies;
-Assist in implementing social media to increase the project’s public profile and advertise our services;
-Represent the organisation externally and provide presentations and talks as required;
-Compile information and produce reports for the Big Lottery as required;
-Participate in regulation and inspections as required;
-Ensure that the objectives outlined in the application to the Big Lottery fund are achieved;
-Ensure that all involved with Grow Cook Cater are working within the terms and conditions set out by the Big Lottery;
-Attend L’Arche Belfast Leadership and Management meetings as required.

Salary:£20,122 per annum

Vetting

The successful applicant will be asked to declare all pending prosecutions, convictions, cautions and

bind-over orders and their name will be submitted to Access NI for a check to be carried out

TOIL

There is no entitlement to overtime payment to reflect the requirements of the post. However, you are entitled to receive time off in lieu for hours worked in excess of your normal working week.
