Primary Purpose:To work as a key team member for the service of full day child care in support of students, staff and members of the community.

Location: Once Upon a Time nurseryncn College sites: Basford, City, Clarendon

Overview of responsibilities

  1. Provide support to the Head of Early Years Services via the Group Service Coordinator in order to ensure the effective delivery of the College’s Early Years Services.
  1. Provide care to the children within the setting, ensuring all individual needs are met.
  1. Maintain a close working relationship and flexibly support other areas of the College Early Years Services.
  1. Maintain accurate and up-to-date records working closely with other team members and parents to ensure each child reaches their individual potential.
  1. Make a measurable contribution to Early Years Services projects and tasks.
  1. Contribute to and implement planning of the Early Years Foundation Stage learning and development requirements ensuring all recording systems are kept up-to-date.
  1. Be familiar with the welfare requirements folder and adhere to the Early Years Service policies and procedures within it e.g. Health and Safety, Safeguarding, Lost Child and Medication etc.
  1. Contribute to a safe environment by being responsible for the Health and Safety of yourself and others, adhering to risk assessments, cleaning equipment and ensuring activities and opportunities are stage appropriate. Knowing who has responsibility for key roles i.e. behaviour and SEND etc.
  1. Work in partnership with external agencies via the Officer in Charge to support the additional/individual needs of a child contributing to CAF or relevant assessments.
  1. Be committed to maintaining and developing personal skills and knowledge by actively contributing to PDRs, appraisals and supervisions; by updating core competencies and accessing opportunities for training through sector and ncn rolling programmes and E-learning, sharing this knowledge with colleagues, students and when in a mentoring role.
  1. Assist and contribute to development of children through assuming key person responsibility and support system participation, production of new paperwork in line with legislation and best practice.
  1. Adhere to and implement child protection procedures as set down by the City of Nottingham/Nottinghamshire Area Local Safeguarding Children Boards and New College Nottingham.
  1. Collate information for internal use and work in partnership with outside agencies as required.
  1. Attend regular meetings (which can be out of hours).
  1. Represent the Early Years Services at College open days and other internal and external events (which can be out of hours)

1 / Hold, or be working towards, a current qualification in one of the following: NNEB, BTEC National Diploma/Certificate in Early Childhood Studies, NVQ 2 in Childcare and Education, PLA Diploma in Playgroup Practice, Teaching Certificate, Qualified Teacher Status, Health Visiting Certificate, an NVQ 3 Social Work qualification or NVQ 2 in Nursing / X
