SEN Assessment Team

The SEN Assessment Team is responsible for carrying out statutory assessments to identify the special educational needs of some children and young people. The needs of these children and young people are complex and significant and for most of them it is appropriate to issue a Statement of SEN. We liaise closely with parents; schools; settings and a range of services involved with children to ensure that the provision made for this group of clients is both co-ordinated and matched to their need.

Children’s Speech and Language Therapy

Identifying children is very complex, especially in areas of high socio-economic deprivation, as many children will have poor speech and language skills on entry to a setting. It is recognised that children's response to universal strategies and language-rich environments is far more informative than a one-off 'snap-shot' on entry. Children with conditions not related to slowed development such as stammering, cleft lip and palate, feeding difficulties etc should be referred immediately. Please see the guidelines for referral by clicking on the web link below.
