Campusweb Demonstration

This is a text version of the online demonstration of searching Campusweb. You are advised to work through this whilst connected to Campusweb, following the links as instructed below.

1. This word document takes you through the content of a 5 minute presentation of Campusweb, the University’s internal web site.
Campusweb provides a gateway to a host of information for all staff at the University of Leeds. Students use the Portal.
Visit the campusweb home page and take a look at its content

2. At the top of the page are useful links for finding contact people, email addresses and phone numbers. For example the phone/email link.
Click on the phone link and take a look at the content of the next page

Try searching for a member of staff by surname by clicking on the first initial of their name.
You will be taken to an email list of all staff whose surname begins with your chosen letter, listed alphabetically.
3. Return to campusweb home page by using your back button.
Further down the page you will find a list of links, the first of which is Webmail, the next, LUU, etc. These links appear on the first page only and are quick links to popular sites.

The learning and teaching section contains resources for all staff engaged in the teaching process. Here you can find ideas to enhance your teaching and links to support units and systems.

Research

The research section provides support and useful links for staff engaged in research. /

Staff Development / H.R.

The Staff development / HR and jobs section is one starting point for any information about your pay and conditions at the University.

Corporate Information

The University was founded by Royal Charter in 1904. The Charter defines how the University is governed and the role of the senior officers. This section gives access to this and other corporate information such as the University's strategy. /

Knowledge Transfer

The University is committed to the generation, use, and application of knowledge and capabilities outside Learning and Teaching and Research. This section gives information about those knowledge transfer activities.

Note ISS – Information Systems Services, the University’s computer support service. Click on ISS to visit their site. http://www.leeds.ac.uk/iss/
From here you can find help with computing problems, access training, buy computers and software and find details of computer services available to students.

Staff interested in research may find the Research Support Unit (RSU) useful. The RSU amongst other things, is responsible for providing the University signature on most research award applications. Take a look at their web site http://www.leeds.ac.uk/rsu/
The RSU provides guidance for transferring research contracts to Leeds and allows you to advertise research opportunities through the RSU email network.

This takes you to an alphabeticised list of HR resources. Scroll down the list and get a flavour of the resources available here.
