Robbery w/Force: Dolores Park, 19th and Dolores, 10-07-09, 1159 hrs.
After riding his bicycle, a man laid his bike down on the grass of Dolores Park and then lay on top of it like a cushion, closed his eyes and enjoyed the sunshine. All of a sudden, he felt blows to his face and head, opened his eyes and saw he was being attacked by two men. The man tried to block the blows with his hands but lost consciousness. When he awoke, his attackers were gone, and so was his $650 white SE Lager bicycle. The man called his cousin who took him to Seton Medical where he received stitches for a laceration above his right eye and treatment for contusions to his hands and head. Suspect number one is described as a white male, 20 to 25 years old, 5’9, 170 lbs, wearing a blue, black and gray flannel shirt and baggy blue jeans, he also had a long dirty blond ponytail. Suspect number two was Hispanic, 20-25 years old, 5’9, 210 lbs, who wore glasses a black jacket and blue baggy jeans. Anyone with any information regarding these two suspects are asked to call SFPD’s Robbery Detail at 553-1201.
Robbery w/Force: Safeway, 2020 Market, 10-10-09, 1830 hrs.
While eating inside at Safeway’s deli area, a man briefly walked away leaving his cell phone on the table. When he returned he saw a stranger standing next to the table holding his cell phone. “Hey, that’s my phone.” The man told him. Without saying anything, the suspect described as African American, 20-25 years old, 5’10, 175 lbs, wearing a gray jacket and black pants, carrying a black backpack, punched the man in the chest with a closed fist. The force of the blow caused him to fall backwards. The suspect ran out of Safeway with the cell phone in hand in an unknown direction.
Attempted Armed Robbery w/Knife:
Dolores Park, near the Muni tracks, 10-11-09, 0150 hrs.
Two men who were walking home from the bars in the Castro took a short cut through Dolores Park. While walking near the rails, they were approached by two men, both of whom held pocket knifes. “Give me your money, or we’ll stab you.” One of the suspects threatened and held the blade of the knife to one of the victim’s neck. Fearing for their lives, the men pushed their attackers away in an attempt to flee. The suspects sliced through the air with the knives cutting one of the victims on his index finger, the other victim felt a sharp blow to his lower back. Both men ran northbound toward 18th and Church when they saw two unidentified passersby and screamed for them to call 911. The suspects, who were not giving chase, were last seen running in the direction of the park’s restrooms. Police arrived and searched the area finding the suspects running on 18th Street and took them into custody without incident. Both suspects had been drinking and one of the suspects had blood on his shirt. The victims positively identified the detained men as their assailants. Police took the two suspects, ages 25 and 33, to Mission Station where they were booked for attempted armed robbery, aggravated assault with a knife and conspiracy. The victims were taken to SF General Hospital where they were treated for non-life threatening knife wounds and released.
Battery: Safeway p/lot, 2020 Market, 10-09-09, 0230 hrs.
Police responded to several calls of 10 to 15 people fighting in the parking lot of Safeway. When they arrived, they observed several people running in different directions. They also located a man bleeding from a face wound. The man told officers that after the bars had closed a group of them had congregated in the parking lot of Safeway. Another group joined them that they recognized as having words with while inside a club and a fight soon broke out. The man stated he was punched by an unknown assailant and could not give officers a description. Officers searched the area for the suspect with negative results. The victim refused medical attention and refused any further police action.
Assault w/a Caustic Chemical: 17th and Castro, 10-10-09, 0130 hrs.
While standing on the corner of 17th and Castro two men hailed down a cab. As they were about to get in a woman rushed ahead of them, pushing them to the side and squeezed into the back seat. An argument ensue as to who had rights to the cab. As the argument grew more heated, the woman pulled out a canister from her purse and sprayed the two men in the face with an unknown caustic chemical believed to be mace. The victims immediately felt burning and doubled up in pain. The suspect, described as a white transgender female, 30-40 years old, 5’10, 140 lbs, with long black hair wearing a black dress got back into the cab and fled the area. The victims walked to Mission Station and reported the incident.
Burglary: 1400 blk of Castro, 10-09-09, 0537 hrs.
A man called police after finding the garage door open of his complex. Police arrived and discovered two cars parked inside the garage had broken windows. Both cars appeared to be rummaged through and one car had wires pulled down from underneath the dash. In the second car, officers discovered dried blood on top of window glass on the floor boards. The officers determined the suspect had gained entry after waiting outside the garage for one of the cars to enter and then entered the garage door behind the vehicle. The suspect left by pushing the button located inside the garage to open the door. Officers called CSI to process the scene for evidence.
Vandalism: Anchor Oyster Bar, 579 Castro, 10-08-08, 2353 hrs.
A man came to the closed restaurant and banged on the window demanding to see his boyfriend. The manager, who had no idea who the man was talking about, told the drunk that his boyfriend wasn’t there and he should go away before he called police. The drunk began to yell and scream at the manager and picked up several golf ball sized rocks that he retrieved from the tree bed and threw them at the glass door of the restaurant, causing two large cracks in the glass. The suspect, described as an Asian male, 30-35 years old, wearing a black t over a white long sleeve shirt with blue jeans, ran Northbound on Castro and was last seen getting into a cab.
Possession of Graffiti Tools: 24th and Dolores, 10-04-09, 1832 hrs.
Police received an anonymous tip of two juveniles “tagging” a bus stop. When officers arrived, they observed two teens that fit the description of the suspects walking eastbound on 24th Street away from the bus stop. The officers stopped the suspects and after a search of their possessions discovered several felt tip pens, a paint spray can, and a bottle of brown liquid commonly used by ‘taggers’ to etch graffiti into glass. The suspects, ages 12 and 13 were taken to Mission Station, cited and released to the custody of their mothers.
