Rob Pincus has been named Director of Shooting Operations at the Valhalla Shooting Club, LLC (VSC). Valhalla is part of the 275 acre Elk Mountain Resort located in the Telluride area of western Colorado.

In addition to automated trap, skeet and 5-stand fields, VSC features a 16,000 square foot indoor pistol facility with a state of the art automated range and a two story 360 degree live fire safe scenario house. The shoot-house was originally designed for entertaining resort customers and visitors to the region who like to shoot. The lighting, sound and props were created with the assistance of Broadway stage designers and are controlled by computers like those used to operate similar effects during live stage shows and concerts. The goal of VSC is to provide a unique shooting experience for those interested in entertainment, education or both. The scenario rooms include a subway station, bedrooms, kitchen, bar, nightclub, industrial area, the first class section and cockpit of an airliner, a warehouse and many other settings. All the rooms are fully furnished and can contain a number of 3-dimensional, automated and/or paper targets.

“Our facility has reminded me that safe pistol shooting can be just about fun, it doesn’t always have to be about training or competition,” says Rob. While entertainment will be the focus of the resort during the summer and winter tourist seasons, the spring and fall schedules will feature a variety of courses in pistol shooting and tactics like those offered at other training facilities around the country. VSC will be hosting some of the most noted instructors in the field as well as developing its own training programs. The facility is also available for rental by training organizations, law enforcement agencies and high-risk security teams once their lesson plans and procedures have been approved. Executive Security International is one organization that utilizes the Valhalla Shooting Club for firearms training.

“I built the facility to entertain our members and guests who like to shoot,” says Thomas Forman, owner and developer of Elk Mountain Resort, “but with Rob’s background and his drive, I have no doubt that this will also be one of the top training sites in the country.”

While VSC is open to the public, priority for shooting times and instruction go to guests of Elk Mountain Resort and club members. Memberships are limited to 550 individuals and 50 corporate groups. The first 50 Individual Memberships are being offered for a one-time cost of $52,000 which includes a custom Les Baer pistol, reduced rates at the rest of the resort, a private training package and much more. Retired General Norman Shwarzkopf and former NBA star Kareem Abdul-Jabbar are two of the club’s members.

The Valhalla Shooting Club was named after “Valhalla,” the warrior’s heaven in Norse Mythology. It was at Valhalla that warriors would go train after their death in preparation for the ultimate battle between good and evil.

Rob Pincus has worked as a consultant in and around the shooting industry since 1996 and has been the Executive Director of The Irlene Mandrell Celebrity Shoot since it began in 1997. He has a background in law enforcement, military and private security and has worked extensively as a training consultant for several years. Rob is a staff writer for S.W.A.T. Magazine and has written articles for several other industry publications. Rob is a member of the Hunting & Shooting Sports Heritage Foundation’s Century Club, a Sponsor Member of The National Wild Turkey Federation and a Life Member of The Law Enforcement Alliance of America.
