ROAD TRAFFIC REGULATION ACT 1984: SECTION 14

TEMPORARY CLOSURE, TEMPORARY SUSPENSION OF ONE-WAY AND NO WAITING AT ANY TIME ON PARTS OF VARIOUS ROADS, BUNGAY

From 25 February 2014 for an initial period of 5 days the following roads will be closed:

a) B1435 Upper Olland Street, Bungay – From St Mary’s Street to Bardolph Road

b) A144 Lower Olland Street, Bungay – From St Mary’s Street to Wharton Street

c) B1435 Staithe Road, Bungay – From Wharton Street to the boundary of numbers 40 and 42 Staithe Road

d) A144 Earsham Street, Bungay – southbound carriageway only – From Cork Bricks to Market Place roundabout

These roads will be closed to enable the town centre enhancement scheme. Other coordinated works may also take place during this period.

Access will be open for pedestrians and cyclists. The diversion routes will be as follows:

1.  HGV: B1062, A143, A144 – no vice versa

2.  Bardolph Road, Lower Olland Street, Wharton Street, Trinity Street - no vice versa

3.  Beccles Road, Hillside Road East, St Johns Road, Lower Olland Street, Wharton Street – no vice versa

4.  Chaucer Street, Popson Street, Broad Street – no vice versa

For the duration of this closure there will be a temporary suspension of one-way on the following roads to allow access and egress:

a) A144 St Marys Street, Bungay

b) A144 Market Place, Bungay

c) A144 Lower Olland Street, Bungay

d) B1435 Trinity Street, Bungay

e) B1435 Wharton Street, Bungay

For the duration of this closure there will also be a temporary suspension of the restricted parking on the north side of Trinity Street, Bungay between the boundaries of number 15 and number 17 to the junction with Staithe Road. This will be replaced with no waiting at any time including blue badge holders.

A temporary one way order shall apply for the duration of this closure on the A144 Earsham Street, Bungay from Market Place to Cork Bricks to enable traffic to move in a north westerly direction only from Market Place.

A temporary 7.5 tonne weight restriction shall also be in place for the duration of this closure on the following roads:

a) A144 St Johns Road, Bungay from the Hillside Road East to Wingfield Street

b) A144 Lower Olland Street, Bungay

c) A144 St Mary’s Street, Bungay

d) A144 Market Place, Bungay between Cross Street and Market Place roundabout

This temporary weight restriction shall not apply to buses or to those requiring access.

It is intended that the closure will operate until 23 March 2014 and an order will be made to cover the further period.
