TRANSCRIPT STYLE: Intelligent Verbatim

FILE DURATION: 2 Minutes

MARK:

I'm running the London Marathon today for RNIB. It's the charity that

helped me out when I lost most of my sight in 2013. I'm running with my guide runner today, he's gonna be guiding me round the course, making sure I don't get in any trouble. You'd be surprised what you can do actually when you put your mind to it. I mean, I couldn't run a bath [laughter] a couple of years ago, now I'm now I'm running my second London Marathon. So, you know, you can do it if you wanna do it.

LIZZI:

Is there a reason why you chose to run for RNIB?

JACK:

Because one of my friends, their uncle lost their sight through diabetes then I thought I'd do something towards them.

EMILY:

I've got a really close family friend called Ken, and he's going to be 102 this year...

NATHAN:

- Wow!

EMILY:

And he's lost all of his sight because it's his age, but I just... the RNIB have supported him so much, so...

LIZZI:

And how do you think you're going to feel at the end?

JACK:

Tired! [Laughs]

MARK:

The whole atmosphere, the people in London are so friendly, and strangers shouting your name and roaring your name on, it's... something like I've never, ever experienced before.

GIRL IN THE CROWD:

Vanessa! Come on Vanessa!

MARK:

If he's struggling I'll be here for him, and vice versa if I'm struggling. So you've got that little bit of a safety net with somebody next to you to

give you that push when you need it, especially when you're doing 26.2 miles.

Like I said before the race, it was all about just finishing and not about the time. So that's what we wanted to do.

MARK’S GUIDE RUNNER, MARK:

And we got there. We've come for that, and we've got that!

MARK:

I'm glad he was there because there was times when he needed me –

MARK’S GUIDE RUNNER, MARK:

Yeah, definitely.

MARK:

And there were times when I needed him.

MARK’S GUIDE RUNNER, MARK:

And it's something that I'll never forget for the rest of my life, probably the best day of my life. At 29 years of age, probably the best day of my life. I absolutely loved it.
