Job Title:Head of Corporate Partnerships

Reporting to:MD - Fundraising

Department:Fundraising

PURPOSE OF THE JOB

To devise and implement an ambitious and highly targeted corporate partnerships strategy that will significantly increase income for Leonard Cheshire Disabilityby:

  • Taking a lead in personally soliciting and securing new business, proactively cultivating a portfolio of your own high value prospects
  • Driving the creation of a strong pipeline to achieve high value, multi-year partnerships across major global brands and corporate foundations
  • Creating compelling and commercially astute propositions to secure long term strategic relationships with new and existing partners – in the UK and around the world
  • Enabling exceptional, long term account development and partnership experience to retain and grow the value of existing partnerships
  • Actively contribute to the overall growth and effectiveness of the fundraising strategy and the success of the Fundraising Senior Management Team (SMT)
  • Providing leadership and line-management to the Corporate Partnerships Fundraising team.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Strategy development

a)To devise and implement a highly effective corporate partnerships development strategy to consistently win new partnerships with global brands and corporate foundations to deliver Leonard Cheshire Disability’s work

b)To create the optimal partnerships portfolio which will deliver programme and project investment, commercial opportunities, gifts in kind and pro bono support

c)To use knowledge of external drivers to identify and create new opportunities for Leonard Cheshire Disability to enable the corporate sector to deliver greater opportunities to include disabled people in the UK and internationally

d)To effectively engage with senior internal stakeholders to create opportunities for information exchange and joint planning of priorities and delivery

New business development

e)To lead in the cultivation and securing of new long term strategic partners, developing compelling, insightful propositions that are highly targeted and in line with the organisation’s overall aims

f)To build a robust new business pipeline, putting targets in place to ensure progress is tracked and sufficient focus is given to future-proofing this vital income stream

g)To lead in intelligence gathering around CSR and community investment programmes in order to exploit opportunities for significant corporate partnerships in support of LCD’s mission.

h)To ensure new partnership proposals receive the appropriate approvals before submission

Account development and stewardship

i)To oversee existing corporate partnerships, ensuring that we deliver outstanding partnership results and experience, supporting the team to devise effective account development plans to maximise every opportunity for income, impact and renewal

j)To support the team to galvanise colleagues and internal resources to ensure partnership expectations are met and exceeded.

k)To champion our corporate partnerships both internally and externally, working across the organisation to secure awareness and recognition of their impact

Leadership and Team Management

l)To lead by example, providing clarity and consistency in all communication and transparent decision making

m)To work effectively at the highest levels of seniority both within and external to the Charity to influence decision making and engagement

n)To work with the Fundraising SMT in the development of a compelling and forward-looking fundraising case for support, to drive both general and restricted funds, developing joint initiatives and providing expert support as appropriate

o)To provide strategic direction and leadership to the Corporate Partnerships team, recruiting, managing and developing a highly skilled team, fostering an ethos of collaboration focus on results

p)To create a consistently high performing team through strong objective setting, team development, ongoing review and feedback to help them achieve their full potential

q)To provide financial reports detailing income and expenditure and ensure that financial targets are met and budget parameters are adhered to

r)To lead on the negotiation and development on contractual agreements with companies and work with LCD’s Legal team to ensure that suitable contracts or Letters of Agreements are in place with partners as part of good governance

s)To conduct feasibility studies and carry out risk assessments for each corporate partnership and activity in line with the Ethical Policy to ensure that the charity will not be adversely affected financially, that the reputation of Leonard Cheshire Disability is not brought into disrepute and that risk to people and facilities are minimised or eliminated

t)To keep abreast of amendments/changes to the Charities Act and other laws and regulations which impact on fundraising

u)To undertake any other reasonable duties as requested by the MD or Director of Fundraising

  • Expenditure within agreed budgetary limits
  • The recruitment and dismissal of staff in conjunction with the Managing Director of Fundraising and within Leonard Cheshire Disability policy

PERSON SPECIFICATION

Essential Qualifications

  • Educated to degree level or equivalent.

Essential Other

  • Substantial experience of securing significant new business, whether that’s within the voluntary or commercial sectors.
  • Proven people management experience.
  • Experience of producing effective marketing and fundraising proposals.
  • Experience of devising and implementing a successful fundraising strategy.
  • Experience of budget management.
  • Sound working knowledge of fundraising legislation and practice.
  • Experience of working with external groups from diverse backgrounds and interests.
  • Ability to travel and stay away overnight
  • A genuine commitment to the values and ethos of Leonard Cheshire
