Next Steps Career Event

Friday 3rd June 2016 10:30am – 3.30pm

RNIB/Action, 105 Judd Street, London WC1H 9NE

(Opposite Kings Cross/St Pancras stations)

Action for Blind People (as part of the RNIB Group) will be hosting an information, experience and fun packed day at their offices in Kings Cross. Action would like to invite you to take that ‘Next Step’ and join us for our 2016 Future Choices and Career Day.

Whether College, University or the World of Work seems a million miles away, or is actually your intended next step, then this is the event for you.

As long as you are aged between 14 and 25 and are looking towards employment as an immediate or future move, and are blind or partially sighted, we would be delighted to have you join us.

Heard of Speed Dating? Our exhibiting employers are offering speed interviewing with a difference. We’ll be running a Career Discovery session that will give you 5 minutes interviewing a professional about their role, the qualifications and experience needed to succeed in their vocation and the best and worst bits about their job. Find out what it is really like to work in Performing Arts, Human Resources, Banking, Administration, Retail, Media, Accountancy and many more jobs you’ve never thought to consider. Our professionals include partially sighted and blind people who can give you that real practical advice to succeed.

If you’re already focused on your career route we can also offer you an informal, yet invaluable Speed Interviewing Session offering exciting networking opportunities, top rate interview practice, and best of all potentially be selected for an amazing Summer Work Placement!

The day will include a buzzing Market Place of exhibitors that can offer advice on accessibility and technology within education and work, schemes such as ‘Access to Work’ and ‘Disabled Student Allowance’ and household name employers such as Shell UK.

We’ve plenty more to help inspire; our own expert Employment Advisors who will be offering 1-2-1 career advice sessions. Please take the opportunity of exploring your ambitions and prospects with somebody who is an expert in employment and visual impairment.
