RN PROGRAM DIRECTOR JOB DESCRIPTION

The RN Program Director has the responsibility for providing and maintaining a comfortable atmosphere and meeting individual medical needs for all persons being served while providing each person the opportunity to grow. The RN Program Director provides the leadership necessary to assist staff with providing the guidance, counseling, and teaching required by the persons served to achieve the greatest level of self-determination possible.

The RN Program Director will:

A.Provide Program Leadership by:

  1. Assuring that privacy and respect are shown to each person receiving services.
  2. Representing and promoting the rights and views of people served.

3.Assuring that quality assurance measures are implemented and that licensing standards are met on a continuous basis for the health, safety and well-being of each person served.

  1. Developing, reviewing, revising, and implementing the Risk Management and Support Plans according to individual needs and applicable licensing standards.
  2. Assist clients with personal care including lifting, transferring, bathing, and toileting as needed.
  3. Implement behavior management plans including physical escorts, restraints, etc. when needed
  4. Assuring that DRCC’s policies and procedures are followed.
  5. Directly supervise all personnel.
  6. Oversee the health care needs of individuals residing in the facility.
  7. Develop nursing recommendations as needed for each individual who lives in the facility.
  8. Provide recommendations to the Interdisciplinary Teams regarding the health care needs of each individual residing in the facility.
  9. Oversee the ordering, distribution, recording, and storage of all medications in accordance with applicable regulations.
  10. Review medication administration techniques of staff administering medications.
  11. Review medication administration errors and provide specific feedback to staff members as per policy.
  12. Complete regular (not less than quarterly) file reviews to insure that the Health Care Record is complete. This shall include review of:

a. Physical Examination

b. Medical Visit Summary

c. Dental Visits

d. Weight Charts

e. Physician’s Orders and the accurate implementation of the orders.

B.Provide Personnel Leadership by:

1.Recruiting, interviewing, selecting, training and supervising RN’s, LPN’s, Program Coordinators and Program Assistants.

2.Providing support, training, guidance and feedback to RN’s, LPN’s, Program Coordinators and Program Assistants.

3. Promoting, facilitating, and maintaining a team management approach.

C.Ensure Building Maintenance, Repair, and Improvement by:

1.Assisting in the determination of capital needs.

2.Coordinating and assuring that building maintenance and housekeeping needs are met.

D.Develop and Manage Program Budget by:

1.Establishing a budget with the Program Manager and Business Manager for each fiscal year.

2.Monitoring and staying within the budget.

3. Pursuing and monitoring funding for each person being served.

E.Communicate and Coordinate services by:

  1. Representing DRCC through positive working relationships with family, friends, professionals and the community.
  2. Promoting DRCC philosophy to all team members.
  3. Ensuring program continuity with work, day programming, and other community services on an ongoing basis.

F.Complete Other Duties as Assigned by the Program Manager.
