RMS Middle School Musical 2015 Legally BlondeJr.

Directed by: Mrs. Farmer, Mrs. McMurrey and Mrs. Marku

A contract has been developed in order to ensure a safe, productive, successful, and enjoyable experience.

Students who participate in the Middle School Musical will:

  • Be a credit to yourself, your parents/guardians, your school & community.
  • Display high standards of social behavior.
  • Demonstrate respect for, and acceptance of the rules of participation.
  • Demonstrate respect for those in authority, including advisors and guests.
  • Display a strong spirit of cooperation.
  • Use language which is socially acceptable.

Conduct Code: All students are expected to know, understand, and follow the rules and regulations outlined in the RMS Handbook.

Co-Curricular Academic Eligibility: Students participating in Musical are to maintain a passing grade in all classes

Student Expectations:

Make a commitment to attending rehearsals.

Follow all chorus and theatre room rules and expectations.

Follow the school policy regarding cell phone use. Cell phones should be secured in your backpack during all rehearsals.

Students are expected to PRACTICE music and speaking lines on their own. We have limited time together, so your individual practice is essential to our success!

Notify Mrs. Farmer, Mrs. McMurrey, or Mrs. Marku in advance, in writing (can be e-mail), if you will miss ANY rehearsals or performances.

If a student misses more than two rehearsals, for any reason other than illness, they will be removed from the show.

The more committed you are to working together, the more fun we will have, and the better the musical will be.

Students picked up late more than once will be removed from the show.

Rehearsals and Performances:

Performance dates are Fri. November 6th evening, and Sat. November 7th matinee and evening.

Dress rehearsal will be on November 4th and 5th

Students are expected to be at ALL Performances!

IF THERE IS NO SCHOOL, THERE IS NO MUSICAL REHEARSAL

Directors will notify students by 12:00 PM if a rehearsal will be canceled due to weather or illness.

Cast fee-$50 includes costume, t-shirt and 2 meals. Crew fee- $30 includes t-shirt and 2 meals. Families who have difficulty paying the fees should contact one of the directors.There will be sign up genius for snacks and waters. This helps everyone not have to worry about bringing something every day.

***If your student is selected to be in the Legally Blonde Jr. Company, (cast and crew) there will be aMANDATORY student AND parent meeting on Monday, Sept. 14th at 6 pm in the Amphitheater. Please bring your fee at this time made out to KHS Theatre Booster Club.***

Supplies, Roles, Etc.

In addition to the $50 participation fee, cast members will purchase basic make-up supplies. (eyeliner, mascara, powder)

Girls will purchase character shoes in black or tan.

Girls will purchase tights (Color TBD).

Guys will purchase black dress shoes.

Singing Audition: Please come prepared with a song of your choice. ONLY a cappella. Everyone must sing even if it is “Mary Had a Little Lamb”. Please note that this is a smaller cast so you need to PREPARE!

Female:Who me? Okay! So I’m a Gemini with a double Capricorn moon and I have a bachelor’s degree from UCLA where I was a Sig Ep Sweetheart, president of Delta Nu Sorority and founded the charity Shop for a Cause. Oh and this is Bruiser, he’s not a dog. Bruiser’s family.

Male:Callahan: “You have the right to remain silent. Anything you say will be used against you. (Pause) When you choose a career in law, you’re bound to hear that “a lawyer is a shark”. Ignore that. It’s simplistic and it’s stupid. Only some of you will turn out to be sharks. The rest…are chum.”

BROOKE WYNDAM / An exercise video mogul who is also a former sorority girl. She is energetic and charismatic, yet currently on trial for murder.
CHUTNEY WYNDHAM / Brooke's unhappy stepdaughter with a really bad perm and an even worse attitude.
DEWEY / Paulette's brash ex-husband who lives in a trailer and holds her dog captive.
ELLE WOODS
(lead) / The quintessential Valley Girl may appear like a typical blonde California sorority girl, but don't count her out. She is hardworking, optimistic and tenacious.
EMMETT FORREST / A smart and sensitive law student who takes Elle under his wing. He is charming, quirky, loveable, and friendly.

(lead) / A good-looking but shallow and pompous guy who breaks Elle's heart and heads off to Harvard Law. He is caught between his former life with Elle and his newfound serious East Coast life with Vivienne.
