RMIT Business is one of the largest Business Schools in Australia and is based at 239 Bourke Street in Melbourne’s Central Business District. Established in 1944 it is now the largest Faculty at RMIT University with around 480 staff working with approximately 19,500 students in Australia and overseas. OFFICE OF THE DEAN
The Office of the Dean fulfils a range of corporate functions for the Faculty, including resource management, (both human and financial), student administration, Faculty management and academic management. It also provides all information technology and multimedia services, support for online delivery, commercialisation and international operations, advice and coordination of program and course renewal, review and re-accreditation in accordance with the RMIT Quality Assurance process, plus training and consultancy services. Groups operating within the Office of the Dean include the Resources Group, Research Development Unit, the Academic Development Unit, RMIT Business Online and RMIT Business Direct.
ACADEMIC DEVELOPMENT UNIT
The Academic Development Unit supports academic and teaching staff in the HE and VET sectors of RMIT Business in developing and improving teaching and learning in accordance with the Teaching & Learning Strategy and the Program Quality Assurance processes of the University and Faculty. Specifically, the Unit provides guidance to the Faculty on teaching and learning innovation, educational staff development, and support for program renewal, review and accreditation. It is also responsible for work-integrated learning programs within the Faculty.
4.JOB SUMMARY
Under the direction of the Associate Dean (Academic Development), the TAFE Teaching and Learning Coordinator will manage the day-to-day conduct of a number of projects, which include the implementation of Training Packages, professional development, teaching and learning strategies and quality assurance particularly associated with the AQTF. The TAFE Teaching and Learning Coordinator will also be required to liaise with RMIT Support Groups such as the Program Renewal Group and the Planning and Quality Unit, including the VET Directors in the Schools, Program coordinators, and the Curriculum Network Representatives from Schools, as required, in the course of carrying out these duties.
5.REPORTING RELATIONSHIPS
The TAFE Teaching and Learning Coordinator reports to the Manager, Academic Development Unit. No staff reports directly to this position.

6.SPECIFIC ACCOUNTABILITIES
Position Accountabilities
6.1To be responsible for the development of continuity and consistency of practice across RMIT Business in:
- Implementation of Training Packages;
- Professional development of staff;
- Understanding current requirements including initial diagnostic review, changes in documentation for implementation plans;
- Dissemination of information
6.2Facilitating program team’s professional development via the Qualification/Program design process by:
- Modelling appropriate teaching and learning strategies;
- Challenging teachers to reflect on their own teaching practices;
- Encouraging teacher reflection as part of an effective professional role;
- Developing awareness around the recently endorsed Business Services Training Package and other TAFE programs in the Faculty;
- Providing a supportive environment in which staff can explore the challenges of Training Packages;
- Promoting team work and a collaborative approach to support program development and achieve the Faculty’s intention to integrate a capability focus into all its programs
6.3Provide advice on ANTA guidelines/requirements such as renewal dates on accreditations and program priorities, including AQTF.
6.4To contribute to the development of a culture of continuous improvement through the implementation of the University’s Program Quality Assurance system and the AQTF which includes student feedback, and the review and improvement of programs and courses; to assist Schools with the analysis of the outcomes of these processes; to work with Schools to integrate the lessons from such reviews and use these to improve existing programs and to inform the design and development of new programs in TAFE.
6.5Other duties as directed within the scope of this classification.

7.QUALIFICATIONS
Mandatory:A tertiary qualification with experience in educational development project management.

8.1Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of the National Training Framework, the State Training Systems including AQTF, Business Services Training Packages, VET curriculum processes, competency standards development, and educational quality improvement mechanisms.
