RIT Assistant Professor of Economics

RIT is strongly committed to enhancing the diversity of its faculty. In recent years, a significant percentage of new faculty hires in our department have been women and underrepresented minorities. We are interested in further diversifying our faculty and identifying men and women who would be interested in applying for our tenure-track assistant professor position that is advertised in the October Job Openings for Economists. One aspect that is fairly unique about our program is that we are members of the College of Liberal Arts in a technical institute. Thus, in addition to nurturing our undergraduate economics majors, we contribute to the significant liberal arts program required for all RIT students, many of whom study engineering, computer science, information technology, or one of several other areas of applied technology. We believe that candidates would find our academic environment to be stimulating, rewarding and supportive of their personal and professional growth.

RIT is situated within, and contributes to, a vibrant and diverse community. Rochester is located on the south shore of Lake Ontario, approximately one hour from both Buffalo and Syracuse, and approximately three hours from Toronto. In addition to the performing arts and community events on campus, RIT students, staff and faculty enjoy the Rochester Philharmonic Orchestra and other performing arts at the Eastman Theater, local jazz clubs, professional team sporting events, and events at the Susan B. Anthony House and the George Eastman House. Moreover, Rochester is the home of the internationally recognized, award-winning Garth Fagan Dance Troupe and School. An increasingly popular stop for "Freedom Trail" travelers, Rochester provides wonderful opportunities to visit historical sites that served as stations along the Underground Railroad.

Representatives of our department will be interviewing candidates at the AEA conference in San Francisco and we look forward to receiving applications from your students. Please urge your students to contact us if we may answer any questions and provide additional information regarding the Rochester Institute of Technology and/or the Department of Economics.
