Parents should monitor students’ work on the site. Students must work on Ten Marks 3-4 times a week for about 30 minutes each time, all summer long.
At the beginning of the school year, students will be required to turn in a certificate of completion.
Reading: Students are required to read the following text:

Thinking: Summer Thought Journal
To keep practicing your Reading and Writing, we want each of you to maintain a journal over the summer. The journal should have two entries per week. It needs to be a mix of Spanish and English, so please make one of the entries in English and the other in Spanish each week.
One entry will be a reading entry. The other should be a writing entry. Here are some ideas for writing entries:
· Make a timeline of events that you have done over the weekend, then pick one event and write it as a short memoir (memory story).
· Invent a character and write a short story featuring that character. (You may even want to write a different episode or chapter to your story each week.)
· Choose a topic that you are interested in and write a short article about it.
· See / Think / Wonder about a trip to a museum, a park, or other summer outing.
Some ideas for reading entries could include:
· What do you think about a certain character in your book?
· Imagine that the character from one book met a character from another book. What would happen? Would they get along? What might they talk about?
· Why do you think the author wrote this book? What is the deeper message or meaning of the story?
· “I used to think… /Now I think…”
· Color Symbol Image (CSI) about the week’s reading
These are not the only entries you can or should make. We want you to be creative with your journal and write about topics that are meaningful and important to you.

Para seguir practicando su lectura y escritura, queremos que cada uno de ustedes mantenga un diario durante el verano. El diario debe tener dos entradas por semana. Tiene que ser una mezcla de español e inglés, así que por favor haga una de las entradas en inglés y otra en español cada semana.
Una entrada será de lectura. La otra debe ser de escritura. Aquí están algunas ideas para las entradas de escritura:
· Haz una línea cronológica de los eventos que se han hecho durante el fin de semana, luego seleccionen un evento y escribir como un corto libro de memorias (historia de memorias).
· Inventa un personaje y escribir una historia corta con ese personaje. (Ustedes pueden incluso escribir un episodio o capítulo de su historia cada semana).

• “Antes pensé… /Ahora pienso…”
Estas no son las únicas entradas que pueden o deben hacer. Queremos que ustedes sean creativos con su diario y escriban sobre temas que son significativas e importantes para ustedes.
