Below are some suggestions of do’s and don’ts for your boat. If you have any questions, pleasecontact Cindy Ford at 601-605-6898.

“Do’s”

  1. Locate your parade strobe light as instructed in captain’s meeting.
  2. Use light patterns other than just lining your rails.Be bright and colorful. The more lights, the better.
  3. Spot light the objects (flags, ribbons, etc.) you want to be seen from a distance.
  4. Be Visible. Make decorations big. Make sure your decorations can be seen clearly from 300-400 feet.
  5. Make sure decorations will withstand parade speed.
  6. Observe boater safety rules at all times.
  7. Have the appropriate number of life vest onboard for your passengers.
  8. HAVE FUN. Come early and show off your boat before the parade to the guests at both parks.

A number will be assigned to every registered entry. The number must be displayed on your boat to allow the judges to read it from the parks and balcony at Yacht Club. Your boat will not be considered for prizes if judges cannot see a number displayed on the boat.

“Don’ts”

  1. Don’t follow the boat in front of you too closely. Try to maintain at least 40 yards between each boat.
  2. If you must leave procession, TURN OFF PARADE STROBE, but DO NOT impede the remaining parade. Waive other parade boats around.
