Richmond Tourism Fund Grant Application

The Richmond Convention and Visitors Bureau (RCVB) is pleased to announce it has established theRichmond Tourism Fund with the Richmond Community Foundation (RCF). The Richmond Tourism Fund is currently accepting grant applications for 2015. These grants can be used for the purpose of planning and implementing activities and events that support the RCVB mission.

The RCVB is a 501(c-6) not-for-profit trade association. It was formed and is governed by the California Parking and Business Improvement District Statute of 1994. The RCVB is the governing body for the Richmond Tourism Marketing District which is comprised of Richmond lodging properties.

The RCVB Mission: Stimulate economic development and vitality by engaging in marketing activities that influence travel and visitation to the City of Richmond, California.

Applicant must be a non-profit 501(c)3, or partner with a 501(c)3 organization that serves as its fiscal sponsor. Activity must be consistent with RCF contracts, policies, procedures and insurance compliance.

Applicants receiving grant funding must submit an “end of project” report which may include verifiable program attendance,a financial report, promotional materials, statements from local merchants whose retail sales receipts are positively impacted by the project, or other materials relevant to the project.

Grant criteria

Organizations submitting requests for grants must meet one or more of the criteria below that support the mission and the fiduciary responsibility of the Richmond Convention and Visitor’s Bureau.

  • ProjectservesRichmond consistent with the mission of the Richmond Convention and Visitors Bureau. This includes promotional material, advertising (any form), and activitycomponents. RCVB’s logo must be included on all project material.
  • Projectdemonstrates or provides an educational component advocating one or more of the following: Richmond history, Richmond art, Richmond architecture, Richmond culture, Richmond diversity.
  • Project generatesat least 10 verifiable hotel room nights from out of town guests.
  • Project demonstrates that it brings participants to Richmond from other communities.

How Much is Available?

Each organization can be awarded grants in the range of $250 to $500. No applicant may receive more than $500 in any calendar year. A committee comprised of three representatives from the RCVB and one representative of RCF will evaluate the grant applications.
