Dear Parent(s),

The Richlands “Blue Tornado” Band will perform on Friday, September 22, 2017 for a Halftime performance at the Richlands vs. William Byrd football game. This is our annual Homecoming game. Due to Homecoming festivities, we will perform an abbreviated show. Here are a few reminders regarding times and policies:

Band Room opens: 4:30pm

Call time @ Tornado: 5:00pm

IN SEATS (Dressed): 6:00pm

Game begins: 7:00pm

Pick up: 10:00pm

We will perform in regular band uniform. Band students are to have the following items for every performance; band polo shirt, blue jeans, band shoes, and black socks are the required uniform for wind players. No visible jewelry will be allowed. Majorette, color guard, and drum major requirements will be discussed in class.

For this week’s performance, the band will perform the 1stmovement of the competition show. Please make sure your child has passed off the following music this week: 1st, 2nd & 3rd Movements of the competition show by Friday at 5:00pm. Also, the band will perform the National Anthem at Pre-Game with the RHS Choir. Please make sure they have practiced this.

On Thursday, September 21, 2017, the marching band will perform in the annual homecoming parade. This will take place immediately following practice. The band boosters will provide a meal beforehand. This is a required performance that has been on the band calendar. Dress code for the parade is Band Polo, Jeans, Band Shoes with long black socks. Auxiliary Units will wear wind suits. Below are important time for Thursday;

Practice Concludes 4:15pm

Dinner and dress for parade4:30pm

1st bus trip will depart 4:50pm (students that drive will depart at this time; must have a parent notegranting permission)

2nd bus trip will depart5:10pm

Parade line up5:30pm

Parade begins6:00pm

Parents pick you up at Farmer’s

Market Pavilion7:10pm(all equipment will be loaded on “Lester II” before departure)

In closing, this is a very busy weekend for the RHS Band. Please take time to review the handbook regarding rules and regulations.
