Richard A. Meserve Reported About Nuclear Safety in Science Magazine Writing, Nuclear Power

Richard A. Meserve reported about nuclear safety in Science magazine writing, “Nuclear power plants have better safety performance today than ever, and future generations of reactors will have design modifications that enhance safety even farther.”

Professor Sir Chris Llewellyn Smith of the United Kingdom Atomic Energy Association (UKAEA) commented about the nuclear fusion reactor in France and commented, “Rapid construction of Inter will be a major step in the development of fusion as a potential large-scale source of electricity that will not contribute to climate change.”

Scientists have become interested in exploring the use of law, force, and the threat of force to restrict or encourage women’s equality as citizens in business and employment. Socialization isn’t the only way that social norms are created, for laws are also an important legitimator of social practice because it defines what is permitted and what is deviant. Scientists say that laws are created to benefit and create beliefs to suit those who passed the law. Laws are also interpreted by those who have power, and coincidently men usually have the power in judiciary, and government. This makes it hard for society to overcome stereotypes and discrimination against women (Epstein).

Most people in the United States would not understand why someone would so fanatically want to kill Americans. “I am one of the servants of Allah and I obey his orders. Among those is the order to fight for the word of Allah ... and to fight until the Americans are driven out of all the Islamic countries.” This was taken from an interview with Osama bin laden in 1998.

The H5N1 avian influenza virus is endemic in birds in Asia (Stohr). The H5N1 virus is lethal to 100 percent of infected chickens usually within forty-eight hours(Garrett). The virus is shed in the saliva, feces and nasal secretions in wild migrating birds infecting other domestic birds particularly poultry (“Hitchcockian nightmare?” 22). The use of live poultry markets also known as wet markets are predominantly found in Asia and seem to be the breeding place for the avian influenza ( “The threat looms”).
