RI ModelSESC Plan Instructions

RI Model Soil Erosion and Sediment Control Plan
For Construction Sites That Will Disturb
≥ 1 Acre of Land

Instructions for SESC Plan Preparers:

Adherence to the principals and the format outlined in this RI Model SESC Plan developed by the RI Department of Environmental Management, Office of Water Resources for sites that will disturb ≥1 acre of land will ensure that your proposed project will receive a faster regulatory review, faster project approval, and will result in improved operator compliance with environmental regulations. This model is intended to assist you in complying with the 2013 RIPDES Construction General Permit, RI Stormwater Design and Installation Standards Manual – Minimum Standard 10 (Section 3.2.10 and Section 3.3.7.1 through 3.3.7.15), and Part D. of the 2014 RI Soil Erosion and Sediment Control Handbook. Refer to each of these documents when preparing your site specific SESC Plan. Links to these resources can be found in the main body of the template. When converting this Model SESC Plan into your site specific SESC Plan, please keep the following in mind:

1)Items in black should remain in the final site specific SESC Plan and do not need to be modified.

2)Items highlighted in gray indicate where information must be inserted and should remain highlighted in gray for the reviewer. This will help identify for the reviewer and operator the items that are custom to your project rather than generic to all construction sites.

Please leave the gray highlighting visible to assist in a quicker review.

3)Items in blue-italics are included to provide guidance to you, the SESC Plan preparer, during the development of the site specific SESC Plan. These items may be deleted in the final site specific SESC Plan document.

4)If any section of the Model SESC Plan does not apply to your project, simply note that it is not applicable and provide reasoning.

5)When printing and submitting the document to the DEM utilize double-sided printing if possible in order to eliminate unnecessary waste and to conserve file space at the DEM and CRMC Offices.
