Board of Directors Meeting Minutes
and Meeting Notes

Rose Hill Middle School Library
The meeting was called to order at 7:05 PM by President Tania Bennett. A quorum was present. (Attendance sheet attached)
Approval of Minutes – Minutes from the previous meeting were not available. Tabled.
President’s Report
- The current Standing Rules will be distributed to all new Board members via email.
- Washington State PTSA has revamped their Standing Rules and their recommendations for local units’ Standing Rules. A workshop to review these recommendations will be held this fall.
- The first general membership meeting is scheduled for October 20, at 6:30 PM, prior to the fall band concert. Discussion centered on proposing a change to a neutral time and having a program and/or speaker to attract parents. A dessert social was suggested, as well.
- Family BBQ planning is underway. Food services has been confirmed. Games will be planned. Aimee will contact Mrs. Laulainen regarding the Jazz Ensemble’s availability.
Fundraising
- The annual Pass the Hat fundraiser will be kicked off Tuesday, September 8 at Curriculum Night. The goal is currently set at $5,000. Colette and Anne will collect funds at tables set up at either side of the Commons.
- Option for spring fundraiser: Clothes for a Cause. A container is provided for collection, and we are reimbursed for donations by the ton.
- Escrip opportunities include donations Bartell’s B Card, restaurants, and their online mall
- Redmond School Pool will kick off again in October, and the PTSA will receive money for new enrollees
- Holiday wreaths and poinsettias will be sold
Treasurer’s Report – attached
- On Prep Day, $3,100 was collected in Membership Dues, $3,285 in donations, and a projected $1,695 in corporate matching funds
- Summer Deposits included donations from Kroger, Red Apple, and Microsoft
Membership
- Currently, 74 families and 88 individuals have enrolled in PTSA
Volunteer
- Still in need of volunteers for morning carpool line
- Anne will coordinate with Melody regarding volunteer needs for the BBQ
Website
- My School Pages has been implemented. We have the ability to collect donations and volunteer interest online.
- Let Laura know if you want anything posted on the main page.
- Online payments can be accepted as of Tuesday.
- Parents will be notified at Curriculum Night.
Principal’s Report
- Items for Weekly Parent Newsletter may be emailed to Jodi individually at Jodi Seitz
- Picture Day Friday – Get your PTSA Volunteer Badge or again on Retake Day
- There is a PTSA Bulletin Board for us to use
- The Grading System is still on hold. Some teachers are using it. Skyward is available for parents.
- Principal Chat – next topic will be on Emergency Planning
- Morning Drop off and Neighbor Complaints. City of Redmond = RHMS responsibility to improved may be fined
- Going to make a plea to parents at Curriculum night to be patient and keep moving through the main line.
New Business
- Tania will speak to parents at Curriculum Night about Pass the Hat, Membership, getting involved with PTSA.
