MINUTES FOR THE SCHOOL LEADERSHIP MEETING

October 2nd,2017

Review of Matthews School Improvement Plan by Mrs. Blanchard:

Important topics covered:

  • The Profile Page.
  • Duty Free Lunch.
  • Duty free planning – Morning versus the afternoon.
  • Early Release Day Plans.
  • Anti Bullying /character education – no issues as of today.
  • Discipline issues at school level are way lower than previous years.
  • Bus issues have been much better this year.
  • Discussion of the timeline for student ambassadors.
  • Reviewed 90 day plan for academic focus.
  • Reviewed the 90 day action plan – discussed and collaborated as a whole group.
  • Two main goal settings:

Goal 1 - Professional Learning –1) district level, school level and grade level.

2) Plan to put in place as a whole group. Slight shift this year to see some growth.

  • Team Planning Block:

-Focusing as a team to come up with a power standard and how to implement it successfully.

-Preparing lesson plans and discussing strategies.

-Key Question: How are we going to teach the Power Standard and why are we doing it?

-Hoping to get better survey results by the end of the year.

-Looked at other schools to compare data to impact our survey scores.

-Introducing the process as a whole school.

-Met with Curriculum chairs and recognizing teacher’s quality work in their classrooms.

-Facilitators are guiding this whole process.

  • Goal 2 – Depth of Knowledge:Pg 19.

-Root Cause- Text complexity, academic concentration (previously only done as a broad sweep but now trying to focus on text dependency. Fro our next staff meeting, each grade as a team will bring 3 books to share as a whole group.

-Continuing education is being done for the staff and there is evidence of continued learning all around the school.

-In the meeting today, parents showing concern about the heavy work load for the teachers.

  • Mastery grading procedures plan: No changes.
  • Review of the School Safety Plan – Mrs. Sealey.

-Reviewed the safety packet as a whole group at today’s SLT meeting. Grade level representatives to go back and review with their teams and to sign off at the front office.

  • Tornado Drill – In Spring 2018.
  • Pgs 26 & up in the SIP Plan– no changes because it is all plugged in by the school district.
  • MPTO Updates:

-Go Play Save numbers and details.

-Boosterthon Fun Run information.

-The Rock Project begins in the week of October 9th.
