  • Project brief –feedback received by Bethea to include indigenous population statistics. These will be included in the Demographic Profile
  • Communications Plan
  • Media releases – multiply throughout the project. One early September informing media outlets and community about new youth strategy and availability of surveys, one during consultations with young people and one next year around the time of the report to Council .
  • City of Greater Bendigo website – will be similar to the MEYP page and contain information, media release, key contacts, and project bulletins.
  • YO Bendigo Website – will contain media release, links to surveys, information about Youth Summit
  • Project bulletins - aimed at community, agencies and City of Greater Bendigo staff. Provide more in-depth information than media release.
  • Review of plans and policy – PowerPoint attached to minutes
  • Review of Federal and State youth policies and programs
  • Review of internal City of Greater Bendigo policies and plans for relevance to young people
  • Demographic/Youth Profile - PowerPoint attached to minutes

  • Majority of municipal youth strategies incorporate a charter or framework
  • Charters / frameworks contain pillars or key action areas – some external and some internal to describe how Council will work with young people
  • State Youth Policy – Building Stronger YouthEngagement in Victoria. Contains a charter that outlines the principles that will guide the government’s engagement with young people.
  • Service mapping – to be part of the agency forum and to be mapped by issue to see if there are any gaps in services.

  • Youth Summit – 7 September
  • Pillars - group decided to change how pillars are chosen
  • Instead, groups of words will be on pillars with questions. Young people’s answers will be analysed for key themes/words and they will be discussed as pillars
  • Survey – online through survey monkey
  • Media release will be written to promote survey
  • COGB will upload survey and analysis material
  • will include issues and ask young people to rate 1-10

  • Nikki - Agency forum date needs to be changed due to Grand Final public holiday. Look at 7 October or thereabouts.
  • Nikki – upload survey to survey money when ready and circulate to PRG.
  • Rory and Wendy – to attend BSSC 9 September to talk to SRC members.

  • October - discuss the outcomes of the stakeholder engagement activities and to discuss priority areas for inclusion in the draft strategy.
  • Late October - Draft reports ready egYouth Profile/ Demographic Profile, Review of Plans and Policies, Benchmarking with other local governments and Service mapping
  • November – Wendy on leave – option for PRG to meet.
  • December – Draft report submitted to PRG for consideration
  • Dec 2016/Jan 2017 – draft report discussed by PRG and edited
  • February/March – Draft finalised ready for presentation to relevant City Director and Managers.
  • April – present report to Councillors
  • May – period of public exhibition. Could be 4 -6 weeks where Draft Youth Strategy is open for formal public comment and feedback
  • June – report to Council on public comments, submissions
  • July – present final Youth Strategy to Council for endorsement and launch.
