Altoona Baseball League

6u Supplemental Rules

All USSSA League Baseball Rules shall apply, with the following exceptions or additions:

Rule 1.00: This organization will be known as Altoona Baseball League (ABL)

Rule 2.00: Membership, Participation, and Classification of play will be determined by the Altoona Baseball League

Board.

Rule 3.00: Player and team eligibility will be determined by the Altoona Baseball League Board.

Rule 3.06.F: Coaches will be selected by the Altoona Baseball Recreational League Board, only after filing all appropriate

paperwork, passing of a background check, and attending all mandatory classes offered by the Altoona Baseball League

Board.

Rule 4.00: Players are placed by League Representative.

Rule 7.01.A: Playing Fields shall be laid out in accordance to the dimension of fields located at Sam Wise Youth Complex

in Altoona, Iowa. A Tee will be used to hit from in this division after 3 coach pitches are unsuccessful.

Pitching Plate will be thirty-five (35) feet. Base Path Distance is sixty (60) feet.

Rule 7.01.B: The official ball may be licensed by the United States Specialty Sports Association (USSSA) and will be a

Safe-Soft type ball.

Rule 7.01.C: Bats may be any that conform to the United States Specialty Sports Association (USSSA).

Rule 7.01.F: Player uniform hats and shirts will be provided by ABL. Teams are encouraged to have matching baseball

pants. Metal cleats are not allowed.

Rule 7.02.A: Home team will be designated per schedule and will prepare field for play (i.e. chalk batter’s box and

baselines). Home team scorebook and pitching record are official. Visiting team will rake/repair mound and plate areas.

Rule 7.02.B: Time Limit: No new inning starts after 70 minutesor 4 innings. (No overtime; games may end in a tie.)

Rule 7.02.D.1 (a): Batting Order – all roster players will bat in same continuous order during the game. Players arrivinglate shall be added to the end of the batting order. If a player must leave early or is injured and must miss his turn in thebatting order, the opposing coach must be notified prior to the at-bat. No automatic out will be taken if proper notice isgiven. If notice is not given, then an out shall be recorded for that player and that at-bat only. The continuous batting

order shall be maintained of all team roster players at the game.

(B) Both teams shall bat an equal at bats each inning. If one team has more players the other team may go back to top of the line up and bat a player or players twice in an inning. The next inning it would go to the next batter in the batting order so the same players are not batting twice each inning, continuing on through the lineup.

Rule 7.02.D.1 (b): Defensive Substitution – Free. No player may play the same offensive position twice in the same game.

Rule 7.02.E: Does not apply.

Rule 7.03.A: Regulation game will consist of 4 innings.

Rule 7.03.A.1: Time limit see Rule 7.02.B and Ties are allowed.

Rule 7.05.C.1-7: Does not apply. Pitcher must remain in circle until ball is hit.

Rule 9.15: Rule will be enforced – Runners shall not lead-off or steal bases. ALL plays are halted as soon as an infield player has control of the

ball.

Rule 11.01: Fair Ball Arc will be used and will be drawn at ten (10) feet. A batted ball must go past this line to be fair.

Rule 11.07: Does not apply

Rule 11.09: See League Rule 7.02.D.1 (a) instead.

Rule 11.10: Rule applies, see League Rule 7.02.D.1 (b) instead.

Rule 11.13: Players will swing until they hit the ball. (No bunting or half swings). No strike-outs. Players will be given3 pitches by their coach. If they fail to hit those 3 pitches the tee will be brought out and they player will hit off the tee.

All offensive players will bat in each inning. Bases will be cleared after 3 outs.

Rule 11.15: Runners cannot steal or lead-off. Play stops when an infielder has the baseball in the infield. When play isstopped, if runner is more than half way to the next base he/she may continue on. If less than half way the runnermust return to the previous base.

11.05 All outfielders shall stay behind the baselines. Defensive players must play a different defensive position each inning.

11.06 does not apply.

11.07 Defensive coaches may coach the field of play.

11.08 The Infield Fly Rule shall not be in effect at any time.

11.09 The batting order shall constitute all present players on the team roster at the beginning of the game. Late arrivals

shall be inserted at the bottom of the batting order. All players on the roster shall bat each inning. .

11.09.ATeams may start a game with 6 players.

Rule 11.09.A Approved Ruling: Any rostered player may be

added to the bottom of the batting line-up as soon as they become available.

11.10 Teams may use free substitution on defense but the batting order shall remain the same.

11.12 Bunting shall not be allowed.

11.13 No additional swings shall

be awarded on foul balls.

11.14 No Walks

11.15 Runners shall not lead-off or steal bases.
