Dear Parents:
Your child’s class has a unique opportunity to take a class trip to the American Museum of Natural History (AMNH), located at Central Park West and W. 81st St. in Manhattan.
Date: Thursday, January 26, 2012
Depart I.S.34 @ 9:00am
Return to I.S.34 @ 5:00 (approx, depending on traffic)
Parents are responsible for arranging transportation home from IS 34
Transportation will be by private coach bus to the AMNH. Students are responsible for the cost of the bus only, which is $20. Admission to the AMNH and the planetarium Space Show
(normally $18.00) is covered by the Urban Advantage 8th grade science program that my classes participate in. Funding is from the New York City Council. Students will need to bring a bag lunch. Vending machines are available only in the lunch area. Drinks cost about $2.00.
The purpose of the trip is to collect data and research that will be used by students in order to complete their Science Exit Projects (the Science Project). Students are expected to come with their science journals and something to write with. They will be assigned to groups with an adult chaperone for the day and are expected to be with the group at all times. At no time should students be out of their group.
Please complete the permission slip below, as well as enclose $20.00 (cash only, please) and return it no later than Friday, January 13. Any issues with money, please write a note or discuss with me. If you are able to be a chaperone, please indicate on the permission slip. Chaperones are free. If you have any questions please feel free to call me or send a note with your child. No student will be permitted to attend without a signed permission slip
