GSC iStation Checklist

Complete the form by placing a check mark in each box, indicating that you have receivedthat item and that it is operational. Make note of everything and anything that doesn’t work. Report any missing items immediately. Make sure that all remotes etc are marked clearly with your room number.

□Port Replicator

Dock & undock your laptop in the port replicator(gray plastic docking device). Make sure it releases correctly without binding; keeping the laptop level while lifting should prevent this.

Note:

With your laptop docked, turn it on & log in.

□Projector Remote w/batteries installed

□Projector – ceiling mounted

Turn on the projector using your remote. Make sure switch box is in Position 1. No other adjustments should be necessary. Desktop image should appear on screen. (If for some reason the computer desktop is not on the screen, Make sure LCD is input to “Computer”. Also check using the FN-F4 keys and toggle to the correct screen input.

Note:

□Use shortcut button on the right to turn on the ATi video tuner.

The Ati video tuner is used for: TV/VCR/Laserdisc(a limited number of classrooms & library check-out)/Flexcam viewing.

□2 External Speakers

Place an audio CD in the CD player and opt to play music. Make sure the speaker volume is turned all the way up so that the volume can be controlled at the laptop.

□TV stations accessible

Use the Ati video tuner to select TV channel 15, WHRO and check for quality of reception. Click the up & down arrows or type in the desired channel number.

□VCR Remote w/batteries installed

□VCR– Uses a switch box that completely bypasses the computer.

Change switch in iStation to position 2. Use LCD remote and change input to Video. Plug in a VHS tape and play on projected full screen. Press STOP.

Note:

□Flexcam (includes microscope ocular attachment)

Change the input using the Ati video tunerto S-Video. Turn on the Flexcam (small black rectangular button located at base of the camera’s flexible neck).

Note:

□Inklink (includes pen w/3batteries, PDA attachment & carrying case)

Use shortcut button, second from the right labeled with a checkmark, to activate the Inklink. Create a new document. Make sure all three batteries are in the pen and check that handwriting transfers to computer screen. Close the document without saving and remove one of the batteries to prevent connection when not in use.

Note:(If this does not work, ask a grade level peer or your ETF to see if this devise is working properly, or needs to be looked at.)

□Printer

Make sure the printer is turned on. Open a Word document, type “test” on a page and press print. The laptop should default to the printer in your room.
