SALARY SCALE: PT 18, £17,714 PRO RATA

(£10,772 22.5 hrs / week)

Purpose of the Job

Vision impaired Service Users of Northumberland County Blind Association (NCBA) and its team are currently supported by 100 volunteers in a diverse range of voluntary roles.

The Volunteer Coordinator plays a key role within the organisation and will be responsible for coordinating the recruitment of volunteers, assist with administration and ongoing support of volunteers (indirect project beneficiaries) to deliver the Big Lottery Funded Key Communications Project Objectives.

MAIN TASKS

Key Responsibilities

1.  Deliver and coordinate the recruitment and induction of all volunteers; with the completion of DBS & personal reference checks

2.  Coordinating Home visiting matches and Volunteer Drivers for clients. Completing the appropriate procedures ensuring all administration paperwork is completed

3.  Coordinating transport for clients/members utilising the volunteer driver database and matching clients and volunteers accordingly

4.  Coordinate the management of Volunteer Expenses

5.  Information and advice sharing with volunteers, using electronic, printed, audio and Braille resources

6.  Development and maintenance of the Volunteer Database with any changes to volunteer details

7.  Assisting the Communication & Events Volunteer Coordinator with the coordination of volunteers and transport at fundraising events and volunteer fairs, open days and appreciation days, support in the facilitation of Volunteer Appreciation Days

8.  Demonstrate specialist equipment and low vision aids to people with sight loss (following appropriate training) with the exception of magnifier assessments

9.  Assist with the review and development of volunteer policies and procedures and the volunteer handbook

10. Attending and assisting at Information and Advice open days and Information and NCBA events across the county

11. Coordinate and distribute tasks to reception and adminstration staff

12. Assist in developing NCBA’s Volunteer Recruitment Campaign with the Communication & Events Coordinator through a county wide strategy, targeting areas throughout North, South East & West Northumberland

13. Delivery of vision impairment awareness sessions and assist in the delivery of sighted guide training to newly recruited NCBA volunteers

14. Coordinating volunteer supported activities such as; Home Visitors, Volunteer Drivers, Noise Newsletter Distribution, Volunteer Counselling Service and Volunteer Telephone Support Service

15. Providing volunteer information, displaying and distributing leaflets and promotional materials, updating information as required

16. Recording and monitoring of voluntary service statistics, collating monthly statistics and producing an activities report with bi-monthly voluntary service statistics

17. Participate in team events and fundraising activities

18. Maintain, update skills and knowledge, attending training as required

19. Referring clients and volunteers to NCBA clubs and support groups

20. Carry out any other duties relevant to post, at reasonable request
