Frail and Elderly Service SupportWorker,Crawley

Hours:7hrs every Thursday

Main purpose of job:

Toassist the Carers Services Manager to provide respite care for carers of

the frail and elderly; provide a safe and stimulating environment for the

cared forand provide support for carers. To provide assistance to members with

movement around the centre, interaction, lunch service and participation in

activities.

Main Duties:

  1. To work with the Carers Services Manager to ensure the smooth operation of the service. Duties will include greeting members to the centre, both new and existing; supporting members with activities, lunch and transport.
  1. To assist the Carer Services Manager in developing the activity programme within the service ensuring activities are appropriate, safe and stimulating and report members and carers participation and feedback.
  1. To lead on overseeing member participation with activities including lunch, transportation and actively engage and interact with members.
  1. To run activities;for example, gentle chair based exercise, craft and singing sessions.
  1. To provide information and support for carers including referral pathways.
  1. To ensure all volunteers are supported and receive training where required.
  1. To work with the Carers Services Manager and other team members on volunteer recruitment and retention.
  1. To assist the Carers Services Manager to develop membership for the service to achieve income target and contract criteria.
  2. To assist the Carers Services Manager to fundraise for the service.
  1. To act as an appointed First Aider.
  1. To ensure Health and Safety standards are maintained for the centre and any hazards are reported and dealt with immediately.
  1. Uphold Safeguarding policy reporting any concerns tothe Carers ServicesManager.
  1. To comply with processes and policies in line with AWSmanagement systems.
  1. To attend training and meetings as arranged with theCarers Services Manager.
  1. Undertake any other duties appropriate within the role as may be reasonably required by the Carers Services Manager.

Essential / Desirable
Knowledge / Understanding of the needs of older people and people with dementia / Working with volunteers.
Experience / Working with older people.
First Aid Certificate
Food Hygiene Certificate
Skills and abilities / Common sense and a practical approach to problem solving.
Good organisational skills.
Able to work independently and use initiative.
Able to handle cash accurately.
Able to remain calm when faced with challenging situations.
Good communications skills.
Able to use Outlook and Word.
Able to record statistics on a database system

Any other factors / Be physically fit to move tables, chairs and equipment to set up room plus able to deliver gentle exercise.
Possess full driving licence and be willing to drive the minibus as required

Willing to work flexibly to meet the service needs.
Ability to work flexibly including working extra hours to cover team members when absent.
