Job Title: / Senior Volunteer & Placement Officer

Job Purpose / To provide volunteering and placement opportunities for participants in More Positive Together ESIF programme for the Pennine Lancashire Cluster identifying existing and new volunteering activitiesand roles. To work with and support Newground sustainable communities staff and other members of the MPT consortium to provide a Pennine Lancashire volunteering programme. The post holder will network with external agencies and community groups to broker appropriate placements and will develop a training and development package for volunteers.

Staff Management Responsibilities / Volunteers

Range of Decision Making

/ Daily decisions relating to the prime objectives of the post and within established policies and procedures.

Responsibility for Assets, Materials Etc.

/ Responsible for the safe usage of materials and equipment in compliance with Health and Safety Legislation.
Access to computer information and confidential materials etc therefore responsible for the security and management of it under the provisions of the data protection act.

Essential Duties &
Responsibilities / To recruit, retain and support a range of volunteers of different skill and confidence levels and empower them in their volunteering roles. In particular to engage with people who are subject to disadvantage
To liaise with and provide mentoring to partner staff to support the MPT volunteering programme.
To work closely with MPT Mentors and partners to design and develop suitable volunteering roles in Newground and MPT partners and actively recruit individuals into volunteering.
To support participants and retain their engagement with volunteering; encouraging them to participate in sessions and activities which raise aspirations, challenge them physically and emotionally enabling them to reach their full potential.
To organise and deliver a programme of activities, training and celebratory events to increase awareness, build capacity and encourage participation in volunteering that contributes to the health and wellbeing of participants and their progression towards employment and training
To promote and market project activities in line with the requirements of funders and partners, using social media as appropriate
To contribute to monitoring reports including evaluation of the impact of volunteering on individuals health and wellbeing
To ensure that all delivery and provision is compliant with Health and Safety and Safeguarding policies, procedures and guidance.
Provide written and verbal reports as requested and ensure good communication between immediate team members, funders, local key partners, staff at Newground as required and requested.
To demonstrate effective caseload management, achievement of targets, objectives and evidence impact through the effective and accurate recording of activities on the management system through the use of ICT
To supervise volunteers as required and requested.
To deputise on behalf of the Skills and Enterprise Coordinator when necessary.
To have daily management responsibility for, resources and project delivery budget.
To complete and carry out Risk Assessments for all activities and initiatives prior to them taking place, recording and storing them on the Management System for approval from Health and Safety representatives
To ensure familiarity with and compliance to Newground’s policies and procedures particularly Safeguarding, Health and Safety and the Environment.
To take responsibility for own personal development needs by taking part in opportunities throughout the company/external agencies as identified through regular supervision and yearly appraisals.
To undertake such duties as may be required by Newground including requirements for evening and weekend work.
