The risk of fire is assessed regularly (latest comprehensive fire risk assessments completed in 2010), the assessments are reviewed and updated regularly by UEL’s Fire Safety Officer (Latest reviews September 2010), and fire safety measures introduced or modified accordingly.
Monitored fire alarm and emergency lighting systems are installed (and smoke extraction in the East Student Village); and maintained to current British standards.
Extinguishers and fire blankets are installed.
All doors in halls are fire doors.
Regular fire drills are staged.
Residents receive fire safety instruction upon move in and once each semester.
