URC Summer Program Assistant

DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITES:

Gather news, take photos, conduct interviews, write articles, create, design and layout on on-line and emailed weekly newsletter for the Summer Research Program. Plan and gather text and photos and prepare camera-ready materials for SRP Conference program. Maintain and revise website for URC and SRO. Create and maintain surveys and pols using Qualtrics. Additional general office duties including filing, data entry, handling phone and walk-in queries, errands and deliveries, and helping with arrangements for SRP events. Hours may vary due to some SRP social events requiring evening or weekend hours. URC Assistant may also be asked to drive Oxy vans for some social events, so Oxy designated driver status is required. On-campus room and board (shared room in Berkus/Rangeview Hall (or Berkus House) and 14 meals per week) will be provided for the 10-week period, although the student worker may elect to live off campus if s/he prefers (however, students who elect to live off campus will not receive additional compensation for either room or board).

REQUIREMENTS/PREFERENCES:

Skill with Excel, Word, Pagemaker, InDesign, Qualtrics. Knowledge of PowerPoint also helpful. The successful candidate will be someone who is reliable, flexible, personable and outgoing who is able to work with minimal supervision on a project, and capable of meeting assigned deadlines and handling confidential information with discretion. Oxy designated driver status is required.

Hours will generally be Mon – Fri 9 – 4, but the ability to work a flexible schedule when needed (early mornings, evenings, weekends and split shifts) is important.

Candidates must be able to perform moderate physical labor, such as moving/setup of tables and chairs.

Oxy authorized Driver status must be in place by 5/26/15.

Applicants must be continuing students for Fall 2015. Sorry, seniors graduating in May 2015 may not apply.

Work Schedule: 30-40 hours per week

Pay Range: $9.50 to $10.25/hour
