To inform K-8 center and middle school principals, assistant principals and mathematics teachers about the opportunity to participate in the LearnBop Pilot Study for grades 6-8 mathematics.
  • The Department of Mathematics would like to inform all middle school and K-8 center principals, assistant principals, and math teachers about the opportunity to participate in the LearnBop Pilot Study for grades 6-8 from August 2017 through June 2019.
  • Researchers at the American Institutes for Research (AIR) and the University of Pennsylvania have partnered with Miami-Dade County Public Schools to better understand what student engagement looks like when using the blended learning tool called LearnBop. We are conducting a research study in M-DCPS on student engagement with LearnBop over the course of the 2017–2018 and 2018–2019 school years in Grades 6–8.
  • Participation in the LearnBop Pilot Study will provide free, unlimited access to the entire LearnBop premium Interactive K–12 math program during the course of the study (2 years). Students can use the program during, before, or after school – anywhere with internet access.
  • Pilot study objectives and logistics can be found in the attached Description of LearnBop: Engagement Study document. Please read this document in its entirety for participation requirements and expectations.
  • The target audience for participation in the LearnBop Pilot Study are mathematics teachers of the following courses:
  • Grade 6 Regular and Advanced Mathematics
  • Grade 7 Regular and Advanced Mathematics
  • Grade 8 Pre-Algebra
  • Self-select teachers should consult and seek approval from their principal and report their desire to participate in the pilot study by completing the following survey no later than June 5, 2017. Principal approval should be obtained PRIOR to completing the survey. Additionally, participating teachers must coordinate dates/times for school visits with their administrators once contacted by LearnBop. Please see the attached Description of LearnBop: Engagement Study document for additional details.
