JOB DESCRIPTION
JOB TITLE:Research and Impact Manager
RESPONSIBLE TO:Director of Public Health
HOURS PER WEEK: 35
CONTRACT: Full Time – Temporary - This post will be offered on a fixed term contract basis to cover maternity leave for 12 months.
BASE: NICHS HQ – 21 Dublin Road, Belfast, BT2 7HB
SALARY:£31, 288 per annum (point 36)
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
This is a pivotal role within NICHS that is responsible for managing and overseeing delivery of our new Outcome Impact Framework to measure impact of NICHS’s services, overseeing NICHS’s Research Programme and ensuring NICHS has access to up to date health information and statistics. .
KEY TASKS
- To manage and administer NICHS’s external research, as per NICHS’s Research Strategy, policies and procedures and updating these documents as required
- To conduct systematic impact reviews of NICHS’s research; creating and disseminating user friend reports for different audiences
- To manage, administer and support the Scientific Research Grants Committee and manage relations with its members and wider academics
- To ensure effective appraisal and peer review of all research applications and prepare all relevant information and data to be presented to the Scientific Research Committee
- To manage the overall running research budget that is over £1.5million and the annual research budget allocation, ensuring effective management, monitoring and payments
- To manage and oversee effective and timely research monitoring and reporting
- To ensure NICHS complies with research monitoring bodies and/or best practice requirements and provide information for internal auditing
- To lead the implementation of NICHS’s outcome and impact framework in collaboration with the Impact Working Group.
- To develop and deliver annual Impact Action Plans and produce review reports
- To work alongside managers and staff ensure effective implementation of the Impact Framework, establishing clearly defined and measurable outcomes for each service
- To work alongside delivery staff to establish tools and systems for capturing and measuring data against the agreed outcomes
- To set the standard of data capture required within NICHS, and ensure that staff are capturing the required data and consistently meeting the data quality standards
- To lead on the commissioning and management of external evaluation of services and associated budget
- To provide and commission training for staff to embed impact across all services
- To contribute to and support the production of business cases for new services
- To manage existing and develop new relationships and represent NICHS at conferences or seminars, as well as organizing local conferences, workshops or networking events
- To prepare and deliver high quality reports, publications, presentations, research resources, information and briefings for a range of audiences
- To support data recording and monitoring on appropriate IT database / client management system (CRM)
- To support the ongoing implementation and delivery of the NICHS’s Strategic Plan with support to policy formulation and fundraising activities
- To undertake such other responsibilities as directed by the Chief Executive or Public Health Director
