Supplies needed: binder/2 pocket folder, blue or black pens, pencils, highlighters, notebook paper
Purpose of the course:
- To understand the components of college writing
- To understand analyze, and respond to college level readings
- To organize and write different types college appropriate essays and projects
Grading Policy
Major Grades: (60%): Tests, Projects, Essays
Daily Grades: (40%): vocabulary, responses, reflections, quizzes, homework, other assignments
Late Work Policy
Late work will be accepted the next class period after the due date for a maximum grade of 70. (This is stated in the NCISD Parent/Student Handbook)

- Writing in College: Formatting, Thesis Statements, Supporting Details, Organizing Papers
- Expository Writing
- Persuasive Writing
- Grammar
- Vocabulary
Major Essays/Projects/Exams
- Narrative Essay
- Persuasive Essay
- Definition Essay and Project

- Other assignments as determined by instructor

Class Rules:
1.Bring all materials and supplies.
2.Be on time to class.
3.Respect all ideas given in class and do not criticize anybody's ideas or thoughts.
4.Respect everyone and their property.
5.Do your very best!
6.Follow all rules that are in the NCISD Parent/Student Handbook.
PROCEDURES FOR THIS CLASS: The following are routines that will occur every day or one time during the school year. You must follow these procedures accordingly.
- When you are finished early:
- Turn in your assignment.
- Read a book or magazine.
- Work on any missing work.
- Talking is not acceptable.
- End of class dismissal:
- Clean up papers and material around you.
- Throw away all trash.
- The TEACHER will dismiss the class—not the bell.
- When you need help:
- Raise your hand.
- Wait for the teacher to answer your question.
- Seating arrangement:
- Sit in the seat you are assigned.
- Keep your desk and the area around your desk neat. It will be checked before you leave class.
- Leaving the Classroom:
- This is a limited procedure. It can be taken away.
- You cannot leave to go to the restroom without my permission. You cannot make it a habit because the privilege can be taken away.
- You must a pass from a teacher in order to go to their classroom. No one can leave the room the first or last 15 minutes of class.
