Duly authorized officers of the Proponent(s) shall properly execute the Proposal as follows:

If the Proponent is a corporation, the proposal shall be signed in the name and under the seal of the corporation by a duly authorized officer of the corporation, with the designation of hislher official capacity, and attested properly. The proposal shall show the place in which the corporation is chartered.

If the Proponent is an individual, he or she shall sign the proposal in person or by representative and be witnessed, stating the name or style, if any, under which he or she is doing business. If the signing is by representative, his or her power of attorney or other authorization shall be stated, and a certified copy thereof shall be attached to the Proposal.

If the Proponent is a joint venture or partnership, the proposal shall be signed by each of the persons or firms, which is a party to the joint venture agreement. A certified copy of the joint venture agreement shall be attached to the Proposal. A joint venture will not be accepted unless the joint venture agreement or some other signed and legally binding instrument is certified and attached to the proposal, containing provisions for one of the parties to the joint venture to be in full direction of the project and to exercise this direction through a single individual, to be appointed Manager of Operations with the consent of all parties to the joint venture agreement.

1. Please include a proposed list of any sub-contractors you may be hiring to assist in the completion of this project.

1)  The Contractor shall maintain and require Subcontractor(s) to maintain Workers’ Compensation coverage.

2)  The subcontractor will indemnify and save the University of Northern BC harmless from any and all claims against the University arising out of the performance of the Contractor’s and subcontractor’s services under this agreement

3)  The contractor warrants that the subcontractor is fully insured and that the insurance is adequate to provide coverage for any injuries sustained by any person on the worksite or for any property damages occurring as a direct result of the work done under this contract.

SPRAY FOAM INSULATION

1.10 Alternative and Equivalent Products

.1 Only products and methods specified shall be used, or such products and methods approved as equivalent. Alternative products and methods may be used only where approved in writing by UNBC

2.1 Materials

.1 Foam Insulation: Sprayed-in-place polyurethane WALLTITE ECO, CCMA – 13408 L, RSI 1.05 (R6/1”) at density of 30.4 Kg/m3 (1.9 lbs/ft3) Standard: CAN/ULC – S705.1-98. CCMC #12840-R for insulation and CCMC #12877-R for air barrier. Smoke development below 500 tested under CAN/ULC S-102-M88. (WALLTITE ECO ‘CT’ is recommended for applications in cold temperatures, down to -10C)

.2 Sprayed polyurethane foam must be U.L.C. certified, drums of chemicals to show U.L.C label clearly and available only to licensed companies.

.3 Insulating Foam Air Barrier Sealant: closed cell single component liquid system dispensed from aerosol cylinder

2.2 Protection

.1 Foam-in-place insulation must be protected from interior space by an approved thermal barrier (Monokote Z-3306) in conformance with the B.C. Building code

3.1 Examination

.1 Verify that surfaces and conditions are ready to accept the work of this section. Application of work of this section shall be deemed as acceptance of existing work and existing conditions. Report in writing defects in substrates and conditions which may adversely affect the performance of the foam insulation/air barrier

.2 Examine joints before sealing to ensure configuration, surfaces and widths are suitable for foam sealant. Report in writing the locations of joints which are deemed unacceptable for the application of joint sealant.

3.2 Preparation

.1 Surfaces to receive foam insulation/air barrier shall be free of frost, loose or any foreign matter that might impair adhesion of materials

.2 Prepare surface by brushing, scrubbing, scraping or grinding to remove loose mortar, dust, oil, grease, oxidation, mill scale and other contaminants which will affect adhesion and integrity of the foam insulation system. Wipe down metal surfaces to remove release agents or other non-compatible coatings, using clean sponges or rags soaked in a solvent compatible with the foam insulation. Ensure surfaces are dry before proceeding

.3 Prepare joints to receive foam air barrier sealant by brushing, scrubbing, wiping, scraping or grinding to remove loose mortar, dust, oil, grease, solvents, oxidation, mill scale and other contaminants which will affect adhesion and integrity of foam sealant

.4 Coordinate with firestopping and self-adhesive air vapour barriers

3.3 Application

.1 Apply foam insulation/air/vapour barrier only when surfaces and ambient temperatures and humidity are within limits prescribed by the material manufacturer

.2 Apply foam insulation only when surfaces and ambient temperature are within limits prescribed by the material manufacturer

.3 Fill joints with foam sealant making allowances for post expansion of foam

.4 Apply spray foam to a minimum vertical depth of 4 inches, limiting the application depth per pass according to manufacturer recommendations

.5 Finish joints shall be free from air pockets and imbedded foreign materials. Cut back excess foam sealant after cutting flush with surrounding surfaces unless otherwise directed and/or detailed

.6 Finished sprayed foam insulation/air barrier shall be free of voids and imbedded foreign materials
