I-10 Tippecanoe Ave Interchange Improvements (phase I)

(San Bernardino County)

Senate District: 31,32

Dear Anthony Liao

We request that the California Transportation Commission allocate $10,000,000 of Corridor Mobility Improvement Account (CMIA) funding for this project.

Project Description:

Eb I-10 at Tippecanoe is currently operating at LOS F in the PM peak hours. WB I-10 and the Tippecanoe Ave. WB on and off ramps operate at LOS D in the AM peak hour. The close proximity of the Anderson St/ Redlands Blvd intersection to the Eb I-10 off and on ramp intersection with Tippecanoe Ave creates severe traffic queuing resulting in deficient operations of these intersections. The proposed project is the first phase of a two phase project. Phase 1 project improvements include widening of eastbound I-10 between the Waterman Avenue on-ramp and Tippecanoe Avenue off-ramp. The widening would provide for four general purpose lanes and one auxiliary lane, with standard inside and outside shoulders, and would accommodate the ultimate I-10 widening for HOV lanes.

Output/Outcome:

This project will improve mainline operations by relieving the backup on the existing off-ramp. Relieve traffic congestion and reduce traffic delays during peak operating hours at the adjacent interchange and provide vehicular access to existing nearby residential, commercial, and industrial areas.
