GUIDELINES FOR USE OF GAZEBO

1.  The renter agrees to be in charge and responsible for the conduct of all persons in attendance while using the gazebo. It is the responsibility of the renter to leave the gazebo in the same condition as it was before the event began.

2.  No alcohol is permitted on park property. No smoking is allowed in the gazebo.

3.  No chairs or tables are allowed in the gazebo. Lawn chairs are allowed on the grass on the outside of the gazebo.

4.  Food is not permitted inside the gazebo.

5.  There are to be no decorations in or on the gazebo. It is the responsibility of the renter to leave the gazebo in the same condition as it was before the event started.

6.  No damage of any kind will be done to the gazebo by the renter or by any other persons at the facility. Any defacing of property will result in holding of security deposit and court costs.

7.  If the expected gazebo attendance is 25 or above, a Security Officer will need to be on the premise during the use of the gazebo. At the beginning of the event the renter will make a cash payment to the Security Officer in the amount of $25 an hour. Failure to pay the officer will result in cancellation of the use of the gazebo.

8.  The renter agrees that to cancel a reservation, a notice must be received in writing from the renter at least twenty-one (21) working days prior to the date of the scheduled event. If the gazebo is rented after the cancellation, the Parks and Recreation Department will refund the security and rental fee to the previous renter. If the gazebo is not rented the security deposit will be forfeited and only the rental fee will be refunded. The parties agree if the user fails to notify the Merrillville Parks and Recreation Department in the time specified herein, there will result a user charge in the amount of the security deposit and rental fee.

9.  The renter signing this agreement, agrees to assume all risk of loss, damage, or injury to persons or property by reason of the condition of the facility, and hereby releases the sustained by the undersigned organization or individual or by any other person using said facility to the extent legally permissible whether the damage is caused by the negligence of the Town of Merrillville, its employees, agents, or by third persons.

Rental Fees: (3 Hours)

Resident Rate $25 Resident Rate with Hall Rental $10

Non-Resident Rate $35 Non-Resident Rate with Hall Rental $20

Security Deposit $75 (refundable)

Security Officer $25 per hour (25 or more guests)

Registration needs to be completed at the Parks and Recreation Department. Call or come in Monday-Friday 8:30 a.m. – 4:30 p.m.
