Position: Family Advocate
Reports To: Family Advocate Manager
Position:The Family Advocate Manager is responsible for working with families and children at Open Doors Academy and carries a family caseload of 50 to 60 families, and is responsible for case management services.
Essential Duties:
- Work collaboratively with staff and community agencies to support the needs of families and children enrolled in Open Doors Academy.
- Form positive relationships with caregivers, youth participants, families, and community members.
- Works with families to complete the Family Partnership Agreements within 15 days of enrollment into the program, as well as complete appropriate follow‐up meetings to the Family Partnership Agreement every six months.
- Assist admissions coordinator in leading and supporting parent orientations
- Make appropriate referrals for families to community agencies and ensure proper follow‐up services.
- Assess family needs and help families establish short‐term and long‐term goals in the areas of housing, health, public assistance, hunger, and parenting. Assist families develop action plans to complete family goals.
- Assist Open Doors Academy with recruitment and enrollment activities, providing support, attending orientations, etc.
- Assist with supporting and staffing Saturday parent empowerment Seminars annually (3 to 5 a year)
- Enter and track informationinto ODA’s data management system, tracking parent progress and case management notes.
- Participates in case management by being an active member of the Case Review Team by making referrals to the Case Review Team and presenting cases.
- Makes at least one family services home visit per year for each family.
- Assists with the development and implementation of the Parent Community Family Engagement (PCFE) goals.
- Maintain highest level of confidentiality
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree preferred in family services, social work, mental health or other related field.
- Experience working with families preferred.
- Excellent organizational, time management and communication skills.
- Must have both local and Federal criminal record clearance, Child Protective Register check status and substance abuse testing.
- Must demonstrate flexibility in work settings, maturity of judgment and ability to work collegially.
- Must have the ability to maintain a cooperative, diplomatic working relationship with co‐workers, supervisors, families and the community.
- Strong computer skills with expertise in Windows‐based programs, such as the Microsoft Office Suite.
- Must be willing to get an annual flu shot.

Assess parents utilizing thepsychometric assessments three times/ year measuring increases in confidence and decreases in stress in the home / September/ January/ May
Ensure each family meets each of the annual requirements between September 1 and June 30th / 100% meet all requirements
